Quote of the Day - Looking back on the Madeleine Case

"Indeed, Woolfall recalls Gerry’s saying shortly after he arrived, “My biggest fear is that this could be a weekend story: british girl taken from portuguese resort—a terrible story! And then that’s it.” The fickleness of the media, Woolfall adds, had Gerry worried. They might so easily “move on to something else,” Gerry told him. Gradually a strategy was devised: stories, pictures, and exotic destinations were woven together, permanently enrapturing the press and luring it into a long, sleepless vigil."

  1. Gerry can think and act extremely fast. And he can manipulate, that is for sure.In my opinion, his hobby is to be disloyal to everybody who helps him. The person in the UK, whom he called on the fatal night and who believed in the accident, Tapas 10 to whom he gave the body dressed up in pajamas ( while the child died in her red T-shirt),the Pope who blessed him, Father Pacheco who prayed with him and gave him the key of the church, the UK population who made him rich, etc.Being disloyal is his second nature and I don't believe he is honest to anybody.I would love to see an anonymous interview by one of his colleagues at that hospital, telling us what people there think of him. Those people must have given him a huge amount of money of perhaps they did not give him a single penny because they know him well.I hope they didn't.

  2. Was this the same Woolfall who said that during his first days in P.da Luz, in close contact with the McCanns, and assisting them, NEVER heard any suggestion that Madeleine had been abducted( be it by a paedophile ring, Santa Claus or ET)???And also that if Kate and Gerry were "faking it", then they deserved an "Oscar", so genuine their despair was.

  3. Odd choice of words here, creating a very revealing paragraph! Intentional? Freudian slip? Who knows?...It almost seems like he's talking of the script for a movie adventure, James Bond style, or a mistery novel:
"stories, pictures and exotic destinations, were woven together...enrapturing the press and luring it into a long sleepless vigil"
