Paulo Rebelo leaves PJ’s CID in Portimão and is replaced by Ana Paula Rito

The team at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Portimão is going to stop being led by Paulo Rebelo and will soon be headed by inspector Ana Paula Rito, a source at the Polícia Judiciária told Lusa.

Paulo Rebelo, who came to replace Gonçalo Amaral in the coordination of the CID of Portimão in 2007, and in the investigation into the Madeleine McCann case, will now return to the Directory of Lisbon, and Polícia Judiciária (PJ) inspector Ana Paula Rito has been chosen to take his place.

Madeleine, then aged three, disappeared on the 3rd of May 2007 from the bedroom where she slept with her younger twin siblings, in an apartment at a resort in Praia da Luz, near Lagos, in the Algarve.

The future coordinator of the CID in Portimão was recently involved in a case where she was accused of violating the judicial secrecy, but in which she was acquitted.

The case was based on statements from inspector Ana Paula Rito to the press, concerning a case that dates back to April 2004, involving the abandonment of a baby that was found in a supermarket trolley on a parking area that belongs to a shopping centre in Faro.

In the case’s closing arguments, the Public Ministry (PM) argued that the arguida should not have followed the institution’s common practice of making a statement to the press without specific authorization from the PM to do so.

Nevertheless, the PM considered that the arguida acted without intention and without being instructed about “the crime that she committed”, thus concluding that there was no applicable penal frame.

The team that is going to run the Polícia Judiciária in Faro changes as well, with joint prosecutor Mota Carmo replacing Guilhermino da Encarnação.

  2. Paulo Rebelo reaps his reward, while Encarnacao leaves through the back door, trying to get away unnoticed.

Ah Madeleine, the Portuguese people won't forget you. We'll get justice done, no matter how hard they try to escape.

    You are Portugal's child now.

    Just wait and see.

  5. Well, it's pleasing to see the gentle Portuguese indulging in some gentle jeering. I'm certain Gerry McCadaver enjoyed that.

Now at last - can it be true? - this new PJ person is a female PJ person? Perhaps a woman will cut through the bullshit.

Poor old Rebelo. He looks like one of Eddie and Keela's mates in this photo. Talk about a hang-dog expression.

It's really sad to read about the Ocean Club and their hard-working employees now on the dole through no fault of their own - the fault lies with the doctors McCadaver, Tawdry Tanner, Odious Oldfield, Creepy Clarrie and the rest of that gang.

Keep on cringeing, PDL. It's what you do best.

  6. Is this changing going to make any difference in Maddie's case?
    I hope it will.
Paulo Rebelo came into this case already under a terrible pressure.
Although he, like Amaral, did an excellent job, he did not succeed to process the couple.

Tony Bennett, if you read this here, please send your book to Lisa.
    An write on it

    Für Lisa, with love,
    Ludwig.

I have the feeling Lisa does not believe in the abduction.
That "it is not for me to say" is enough for me.
    She could have said:
"Yes, I was at 5A and saw how easily she could have been taken by a stranger."
She not only said "it is not for me to say" but also immediately turned her head to the right, avoiding the journalist's eyes.
She felt uncomfortable with his question.
She does not believe this story.

  7. Continuing what I just said above,(Lisa), we can notice Mitchell was near her during that short interview. The practly immediatelly mixed up in the conversation, controlling it.
He is afraid of what she might have observed.
Lisa, there is a possibility you will be controlled for the rest of your life.
If Madeleine is a matter of national security, you will bet be.

  8. Padre Pacheco perdeu uma boa hora de fazer um exorcismo no Gerry.
Mas afinal acho que nem necessário é.
Acha que satanás corre o risco de conviver com este médico?

  9. All the people involved in the making of this "documentary/reconstruction" had to sign a confidentiality agreement, so there is little chance any of them will dare to speak freely about any detail of the case, not even dare to give their own ideas and opinions on it! If they do they will be dragged to court and condemned to pay big compensation. The McCircus has every edge very well covered, their "big-guns" lawyers are on top of it!
