The Tabloid Sun: Mystery New Suspect?!

By Antonella Lazzeri

A MYSTERY new suspect is being hunted over Madeleine McCann’s abduction.

The search comes ahead of the second anniversary of her disappearance on May 3, 2007.

The man was “acting suspiciously” in the days before she vanished on a family holiday in Portugal.

Witnesses saw him loitering alone on a road near the flat where Maddie’s family were staying in Praia da Luz.

He will feature in a TV reconstruction of her abduction to be screened by Channel 4 on May 7.

Her parents Gerry and Kate have spent months combing the Portuguese police files on the case and believe the man could be vital to finding Maddie — who vanished just days before her fourth birthday.

He is said to be of Mediterranean appearance and in his late 20s or early 30s.

He is NOT believed to be the same man that Jane Tanner, one of the so-called Tapas 7, saw carrying a child on the night of Maddie’s disappearance.

A TV source said: “Information about this man was buried away in the files.

“It seems virtually no effort was made to find him by police.

“Witnesses said he was staring in the direction of the apartment.”

Gerry took part in the reconstruction — filmed at the resort last month — but Kate felt she would find it too traumatic.

The couple, from Leicester, are due to fly to the US today to appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

They will unveil images of how Maddie may look now.

  1. This is not new, we have all seen these pictures before in the press. How can they say they were buried in files if we've even seen them here in uk. More smokescreen. Please tell G Amaral there are more and more people in uk who have grave doubts about the Mcanns and have faith in him.

  2. Heaven help us if 'loitering' alone on a road and being of Mediterranean appearance means you are a suspect! Another ridiculous announcement by the McCanns and Clarence, who can't imagine why the Portuguese police didn't rush around looking for somebody of Mediterranean appearance, in his twenties or thirties, who dared to be walking alone in the street. I mean, how suspicious can you get?!! Interesting, though, that they are keen to stress that this was not the man who Jane Tanner says abducted Madeleine. I'm not sure of the significance of that statement yet, but I'm sure it will prove to be significant.

  4. Joana & Astro,

I do apologize for my choice of language but I am sick and tired of this "Mystery Man" shit. Aren't you guys tired too?

The McCanns are a couple I dislike immensely, no secret there but the public are as much to blame. They buy this crap.

Scientific evidence states clearly that these two are guilty. All this Oprah crap is sick. These two need jailed and sharply. The public must wake up and start thinking for themselves.

That Mitchell guy is also a fraud and what's worse: The British gov allowed these two child neglectors to get away with it AND ridicule the people of Portugal at the same time.

It's the little child I feel sorry for obviously but I feel terrible for the Portuguese people who have been slaughtered by the Brit media scam. We are (as Brits) a fucking disgrace. We should be ashamed of ourselves for the way we treated the very nice and warm people of Portugal.

This case has to end and it must end now!

Mr Amaral is an amazing guy. I fully respect him.

  5. I remember from the footage we were shown of the making of the "McCdocumentary", a scene where a woman is going up the street, on the left sidewalk, she passes the reception of the O.Club, and there is a man standing on the other side of the road, standing on the sidewalk, just standing there, he didn't look at all suspicious to me, BUT the woman yes, she kept looking sideways to the man as she walked. I'm sure it was the man who must have felt she was acting strangelly!
My goodness, it is a public road, what's so strange about someone standing on the street in broad day light? He could be waiting for someone or some other innocent reason.
