McCann Detectives Saga: The Second 'Suspect'

DETECTIVES are to question a Scottish suspect over the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

Private investigators working for the McCanns have confirmed that they want to question the man, who is currently awaiting trial for murder and child sex offences in Barlinnie prison in Glasgow.

Already wanted by Spanish police in connection with the disappearance of a German boy, the man was spotted by a prison officer at Barlinnie due to his likeness to a pencil sketch of the chief Maddie suspect.

The insider said: “This man looks like the Maddie suspect drawing that has been in the papers.

“He is also well known to have spent a lot of time in the Spanish region – staff at the prison want the investigation team to speak to him.”

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, operated a cleaning firm for Spanish holiday homes [Rainbow Cleaning Services] when Maddie vanished in May 2007.

He is currently accused of murdering a 40-year-old woman from Ayrshire with an accomplice, reportedly because the pair feared she would report them for child sex abuse.

The woman went missing from Largs more than a decade ago, and the body has never been found.

Clarence Mitchell, spokesman for the McCanns, confirmed that investigators were trying to contact the man.

He said: “The investigators currently searching for Madeleine are aware of this man and they do want to speak to him.

“Any credible information they receive is, of course, followed up as top priority.”

Both men face further charges of sex abuse against children, child pornography and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Charged for a second time after the initial evidence was ruled insufficient, both lived in the Canary Islands and in Costa Blanca until being charged again last year.

Life for murder paedo wanted by Maddie tecs

By ANTONELLA LAZZERI [aka pro McCann-parents biased tabloid hack]

A SERIAL paedophile linked to the Madeleine McCann case was yesterday jailed for life for murder.

Charles O'Neill has repeatedly refused to be quizzed by detectives working for Maddie's parents Kate and Gerry.

But the private eyes will now try again. O'Neill, 47, is believed to have been in Portugal when Maddie, then three, vanished from an apartment in Praia da Luz on the Algarve in May 2007.

Yesterday he was sentenced for killing mum-of-three Allison McGarrigle who threatened to reveal he and gay lover William Lauchlan were abusing a child.

Ex-boxer O'Neill and Lauchlan, 33, strangled Allison 13 years ago in Largs, Ayrshire.

They dumped her body at sea and it has never been found.

The High Court in Glasgow ordered O'Neill to serve a minimum of 30 years and Lauchlan, a minimum of 26 years.

They were handed a further 10 years each for abusing two boys aged six and 14.

The pair had been jailed in 1988 over 31 charges of drugging and assaulting young children but were freed in 2002.

They fled to Spain and set up a cleaning business for holiday apartments.

They travelled to Portugal several times.

In April 2004 they abducted, drugged and abused a 15-year-old English boy in Spain.

O'Neill was still there three years later when seven-year-old Spanish Jeremy Vargus [Yeremi Vargas] vanished from Gran Canaria.

Two months later Maddie went missing - and O'Neill was thought to be on the Algarve at the time.

Jeremy's mother Ithaisa Suarez, 24, and Kate, 41, from Rothley, Leics, have written to each other regularly.

Kate and Gerry have also included information about the Jeremy case on their website. [read here to know what means «included in the McCann's dictionary]

Last night the McCanns' spokesman Clarence Mitchell confirmed: "Investigators have been fully aware of O'Neill and his background but have not been able to take him any further forward as an active line of investigation."

  1. How can British authorities allow the McCanns to bring up their children?
They are not normal, we can see it.
How can Clarence Mitchell, who knows them well, live near such a danger, not asking for help and protection for the twins?
These children are in danger, someday a terrible thing will happen and it will be too late.
The parents are disturbed, in my opinion.

  2. No place to go! Now that the 3 A's has been subverted, there seems to be fewer places for UK citizens to go to break through the media control in the UK.

  3. People I know socially and at work who were, at one time, quite aggressively defensive of the McCs and their fairy stories are now rolling their eyes in disbelief at these latest fabrications.

Nothing to do with me, of course.

These third-rate soap-opera plots will inevitably test the loyalty of even the stupidest and most gullible McCann apologist.

  4. Joana, you should be ashame of yourself - this poster obviously have psychiatric issues - why allow such a silly comment from a blogger who is obviously ill.

You don't take someone's children away based on your feelings and your knowledge that the McCanns are not normal. The children protection agency met with the McCanns on their return from Portugal and decided after their meeting NOT to remove the twins.

Your comment could almost be construed as a threat against the twins.

  5. Letter from Iberia

Perhaps all those that were in Portugal or Spain on that day or in that year should be subject of the McCann Mafia investigation

More McCann Smoke and Mirrors to keep the cash rolling in.

    Missing ... Madeleine McCann

    Exclusive
Cops let Maddie suspect off hookBy SIMON HUGHES
    and ANTONELLA LAZZERI

    Published: Today
A SUSPECT in the Madeleine McCann case was let off the hook — after a private detective tailing him was deported by cops.
The detective was told to leave Portugal after the suspect complained.

It is illegal in Portugal to run a private investigation into a crime when a police one is still active. As a result of the deportation, the suspect had nearly a year to get rid of any possible evidence against him.

The man lived near the holiday complex in Praia da Luz where Maddie, three, disappeared on May 3, 2007.

A source close to the McCann family last night accused Portuguese cops of “hindering” the investigation, adding: “It’s a disgrace.”

The detective was working for the Spanish firm initially hired by Kate and Gerry McCann. Their British investigators are now looking into the man.

  9. According with news, he and his cousin have been investigated already. Most probably they are on PJ files and have been investigated by Spannish and british police on behalf of the PJ in the most wanted girl - Madeleine-
Is annother scapegoat at least more young. I hope more atheletic aswell to pass trough the window without leaving any trace. What amuses me is that part of the news " cannot be named for legal reason's". He is in Prison yah? then no physical danger for him to be named. But... he (photo) looks more like Gerry Mccann and Mr. Mitchel wants somebody to fit Gerry Mccann aspect. Very convennient yah, Mr. Mitchel? You can always say this is the guy which the Smiths spot that night carrying a girl... I fed-up with your imagination. Re-open the case and let the man, in court, describe the flat, the room where Maddie sleeps with twins, the bed, particular signs of Maddie body apart the eye spot, the street, the resort, the cuddle cat.... All the descriptions in a very deep and confident way, not in general because in general, trillions of people in the world know it. WE ARE NOT STUPID!!!!

  10. yep, good point about looking a bit like Gerry. Would be most convenient. But we don't know his height and build.

  11. Anon... we don't need to know about his height and build. He will be in the news for few days giving two weeks of glory to Mccann's team. After will be dismissed, as usual. They have 5 more persons with interesse. Ennough to make a busy Summer.

  12. Antonella Lazzeri must NEVER again be referred to as a "journalist" or "reporter". She is a brainless puppet willfully signing her name to Pinky's stories. She's entirely irrelevant and hopefully will find herself unemployed after the McCann's are finally arrested.

As far as these pervs being involved in Maddie's so-called "abduction"? It is another pathetic, insulting attempt to scam the world.
