News on the British Paedophile are Not Sufficient to Reopen the Investigation

The Attorney General Office, considered today that the recent news about the British paedophile Raymond Hewlett being close to the holiday apartments in Praia da Luz, from where Madeleine McCann disappeared are not sufficient to reopen the investigation.

In a reply sent to the news Agency Lusa, regarding the news advanced by the British press who present as a 'suspect' the British paedophile, because he was in the Algarve at the same time of the English child disappearance, the Attorney General Office stated that «speculations, opinions or comments are not enough to reopen the investigation».

According to the Attorney General Office, «when solid facts emerge, that the magistrates coordinating the process consider to be relevant and credible, the process will be reopened» relative to the disappearance of the British child.

However, the Attorney General Office advanced that «they are attentive to the signs that are appearing».

Raymond Hewlett, 64 years old, was allegedly living in Tavira, about one hour from Praia da Luz, in May 2007, at the time of the disappearance of the British child, while on vacations with the family.

The former soldier, according to the newspaper Daily Mail, has a history of known attacks on girls dating back to 1972, when he was convicted of abuses to a 12 year old girl.

According to the daily The Sun, Raymond Hewlett, was questioned by the Portuguese Police, but provided an alibi that cleared him of any suspicions.

Madeleine McCann disappeared on the 3rd of May 2007 from the bedroom where she slept with her younger twin brother and sister, from an apartment in the tourist resort 'Ocean Club', in Praia da Luz, district of Lagos, in the Algarve.

The parents, both doctors, dined at the time with a group of British friends in a restaurant of the tourist resort, about 50 meters away of the apartment.

The family kept the position from the start that Madeleine was abducted.

Until now the authorities have failed to know what really happened; the Public Ministry archived the case, which can be reopened if new data emerges on the disappearance of Madeleine.

  1. Off- course they cannot re-open the case based on Mccann's media circus. They know, THE GIRL IS DEAD. Re-open the case, mean's re-evaluating Mccann's status and most probably... change it again.

  2. Good evening Joana and thank you. One would think if we had one decent reporter in england with brains someone may have spoken with Gail Cooper who said the man she saw made "her blood run cold" and that she would recognise him again. Of course this may prove a little embarassing To Gail as she said this man spoke english with a broken accent..anyone who has the memory of the life span of a pea will of course forget and think that this is Tanners bundleman who did say that "egghead" looked very much like Coopers description even though she did not see his face.

Why have these "journalists" from the Mail and the Sun not been to see this woman or have they like the public forgotten all about her.

I am very interested to know what happened to Hewletts teeth...maybe over the weekend a dentist will come forward telling us that he is the one who removed them while Hewlett was telling him of his time spent near where Madeleine disappeared....Glad to see no mention of "abduction"..only from the parents which is not evidence.

  3. "However, the Attorney General Office advanced that «they are attentive to the signs that are appearing»."

PMSL. I know: one must pay a lot of attention to this game otherwise known as 'Pin The Tale on the Paedo'.

Gerry McCann, now for a dose of your own medicine, doctor: "Find the body and prove he did it". Karma, Gerry, karma............

  5. "attentive to the signs that are appearing mean" - if you are Gerald McCann, Kate Healy or any of the Tapas group - then it's not only a bad news, it's a nightmare!
