Gonçalo Amaral: 'I Will Not be Silenced"

Transcipt:

Sandra Felgueiras (voice over) – The judge’s decision on a request for an injunction of secret character that had been filed by the McCanns arrived this morning. Starting at the moment when Gonçalo Amaral’s editor is notified, the sale of any books and videos that are still in stores will be forbidden. The editor has not been informed about this decision yet, but from what can be read, it is impeded from performing any new editions, and Gonçalo Amaral is strictly forbidden from making any comments that correspond with the parts of the book that defend the thesis that Madeleine died.

Gonçalo Amaral – What makes this worse is that they are trying to shut us up, but they won’t shut us up, that is for sure, and the book will be published in English, even more so because the conclusions that are in the book are in the process.

SF (voice over) – What is certain is that if Gonçalo Amaral and the editor do not obey the order, the court can condemn them to pay a fine of 1000 euro per day.

GA – It’s a very dangerous decision. It’s a decision that places the freedom of expression at stake. Let’s see what the political parties will say. They will certainly have to say something.

SF (voice over) – In Rothley, Kate and Gerry McCann rejoiced over the decision, even more so because it paves the way for a satisfactory outcome in the other civil action that they have filed in June against the former inspector, who was removed from the case and later abandoned the Polícia Judiciária. Over alleged moral damages, they demand compensation in the amount of one million and two thousand euro.

GA – What they want is to make money in order to pay for their house in Rothley, which is what they have been doing.

SF (voice over) – Gerry and Kate have not heard Gonçalo Amaral yet, but from England they assert that the most serious part is that the former inspector’s book damaged the search for Madeleine.

Influenced by this piece of news or not, the truth is that ‘The Truth about the Lie’ sold out in many Lisbon bookshops, this afternoon. This is almost a unique copy of a non-fiction book that became the most sold book during the entire year of 2008. 175 000 copies have been sold, and that is not counting with the editions that were translated for Spain, France, Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands and Germany. The adaptation of this book into a television documentary was watched by 2 209 000 people and became the single most watched television programme in Portugal, apart from football matches.

But is it the truth or a lie? This thesis from Gonçalo Amaral about the Madeleine McCann case has never been proved, and now, until an order to the contrary, it will have to be silenced.

  2. Will Dr. Amaral have his day in court with the McCanns? Not if they can avoid it by any means at their disposal, but how else are they going to get their grubby little hands on the millions of Euros they seem to think are up for grabs?

  3. 14 months after the publication, the McCanns start a process against Amaral.
Who planned this? those two privet detectives?
    I would'n be surprised.They are very efficient.

  4. So how do they manage to ban something without explanation? Surely in Portugal the McCanns have to prove what Amaral says is untrue?

Why can we not have explanation as to what exactly the McCanns say is untrue? Why is it always their way around?

Why is the child not the primary concern? 40+ questions need answering!

  5. Come on! Why are the authorities not concerned at the constant efforts of the McCanns to subdue opinion! What ever happened to justice!

  9. It is in the public interest that this book should be published, as the Official enquiry into what happened to Madeleine has concluded she died in the apartment, which is what Dr Amaral is revealing.

While ever the public are being asked to contribute money to the McCanns Fund to help find Madeleine, they should also be allowed to have access to the information contained in Dr Amaral's book.

This will enable them to make an informed judgement as to whether to donate or not.

So, Dr Amaral is doing a public service by publishing his book and he should not be silenced.

    Well done, Dr Amaral

  10. The Mccanns never searched for Madeleine themselves and now they accuse Amaral to disturb eventual search of other people.
They blame everybody except them- selves.
Why don't they process the PJ that also stopped searching for the girl and took her picture out of their official site?
Why there is no photo of Madeleine's on the police site anymore?

  11. It's like putting toothpaste back ina tube or closing the barn after the horse has bolted.

This despicable duo cannot silence the whole truth. They will have small victories, but every victory exposes also their fear.

Good Dr. Amaral, you have a very wide global support.

  14. Do you remember the news ref. the PI were in the Algarve? They aren't searching for the girl, they search something they can use in the civil case against Amaral. They don't care about the girl, I think.

  15. Article 37 of the Constitution of Portugal
Everyone shall possess the right to freely express and publicise his thoughts in words, images or by any other means, as well as the right to inform others, inform himself and be informed without hindrance or discrimination
Exercise of the said rights shall not be hindered or limited by any type or form of censorship
    What a joke

Justice in Portugal what a joke

  16. I don't think Amaral minds about Mary saying Amerel.
It sounds so nice and innocent.
I love it when I read it.
And I don't believe Amaral himself wrote that comment

  17. After this ruling, I`m sure the people that initially believed the McCanns now have severe doubts about their innocence in this whole drama. This ruling just casts further doubt on their innocence. They protest too much.

As an earlier poster said "How come the McCanns have such power and influence?" This is all beginning to reek of something much more sinister.

What is the power that Mr. McCann has and why is he so confident of his influence in high places ?

  20. Amaral - if you decide to fight this with all the power at your disposal you will go down in history as one of the great defenders of liberty.

I think now my original hope - that he would publish in English in the USA might not have been the better course.

    Anon asks:

"Why can we not have explanation as to what exactly the McCanns say is untrue? Why is it always their way around? "

Absolutely!!! How much we would like those questions answered. But the McCanns and their Mates in the "Pact of Silence" are always given a free pass.

  21. Gerry Addams and Martine McGuiness, can anyone recall when the Thatcher government gagged them ?

The BBC, still independent, to an extent, at the time, got an actor to do the voice-overs. !!

Someone, somewhere just has to stop the McCanns and whoever is behind them.
This is now bordering on Fascism.
    Book burnings next.!!!!
    WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE??
Books have been written basically accusing our Queen's husband of plotting MURDER and they weren't banned.
Books and films have been made [ quite rightly in my opinion] accusing the U.S. government of mass murder. THEY haven't been banned.
What makes a couple of provincial medics so freaking special??

  25. This is really scaring me.
    What have we become?
The loss of our freedoms should scare all of us.

  26. The McCanns waited for Amaral to accumalate funds from the sale of his book and video before taking action.
    Money,thats all their interested in.
Maybe they did sell Maddy to the highest bidder.

........ Well said - Anyone who believes that judge`s reasons must be simple. Its the most puny reason to come up with, basically saying that the McCanns will be distressed by it.

There have got to be more sinister reasons behind all this, i.e. an elitist group that are extremely powerful and have something to hide.
