McCanns Lisbon Press Conference

Kate e Gerry McCann stated today in Lisbon that they have returned to Portugal to "find new leads and a strategy that allows to maximize the search" of their daughter Madeleine, who disappeared more than 2 years ago in the Algarve.

"It's a very important day for us and for the search of Madeleine. This can be a turning point in the search and we are willing to do whatever needs to be done to keep searching for our daughter" said Kate McCann, who spoke to the journalists together with her husband Gerry, in a press conference at a Lisbon Hotel.

The McCann couple, who have arrived today in Portugal, started by recalling that there were two judicial processes that concluded "that there are no evidences that Maddie is dead, or that we are, in anyway involved in her death".

  4. Thank you Jo, now did I say he looks a bit shifty there? No, of course not:-))

PR people to make the Pt people love them again, I am sure that will be one huge success for them! But it is just a pity they did not realise it is Maddie the Pt people love..

  5. "A turning point"?? A turning point would be if you answered the 48 questions that you refused to answer earlier. Hiring another PR outfit can hardly be considered a turning point.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I hope someone asked them, hearing "we are willing to do whatever needs to be done", whether at last she was ready to answer the 48 questions, would participate in a reconstitution, etc. What could they fear now that GA doesn't work in the PJ anymore ?

    ReplyDelete
  7. So don't they realise that people there have had quite some time to read Dr Amaral's book.

For those who have, it is doubtful the McCanns saying there is no proof of the death of Madeleine will go down as believable.

So, business as usual then, carry on sending the money.

  8. This pair have some gall you have to hand it to them they don't care what anyone thinks of them they are out for cannonization and determined to get it. Mr Amaral shut them up. ASAP please please I am sick of of them. Poor little maderlaine she is better off away from these selfish morons.

  9. How many stones did they turn over today? Isn't that their mantra - leave no stone unturned?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I hope Dr Amaral is going to get the chance to go in front of the news media in Portugal and say his bit, refuting what this pair is saying.

He is on his own territory after all and who knows, it may be picked up by the UK press and actually printed.

  11. What a heartless coupe they are. They disgust me.

And what search ? Edgar, your PI, remember kate ? Said Maddie is 10 radius from PDL, but you cant be bothered to go there, is that the turning point you are talkin about kate? to show in public that you could care less. Or what ?

Oh yes, the money ! That is the real reason, right? kate?

  12. Thinking that the Figaro publishes an article on this, but nothing about the scandalous censure against GA... Sad times !

    ReplyDelete
  13. I can't believe the brass neck of them! No time to go to the 'lawless' village near Luz where Dave Edgar is convinced Madeleine is being held in a cellar then? I hope Madeleine doesn't see her parents on TV, only a few hours drive away

    ReplyDelete
  14. She looks old and haggard. What ever front they show to the public inside they are finished.

    ReplyDelete
  15. And you think the H1N1 virus is bad. They were never charged with any crime, so exactly which judicial processes proved that they are innocent and that the child is not dead? Are they referring to the Public Ministry's glib conclusion that they are innocent because they exhibited normal behaviour? First of all not cooperating with police is not normal behaviour second, concluding that some one is innocent based solely on their behaviour is not the work of professionals. Didn't the Public Ministry also conclude that the girl likely died in the apartment? I gather the other process they are referring to is the one in which a judge strips the rights of a Portuguese citizen to express himself, i.e. point out the obvious. Apparently they believe the injunction on the book confirms their innocence and that their daughter is alive. I wish Salazar was alive. At least it was known up front that Portugal was a dictatorship, much better than this pseudo-democracy. Salazar wouldn't put up with this nonsense.

    ReplyDelete
  16. She looks bad and why?
    She wanted to ban Amaral's
book, she succeeded, she wanted money, she succeeded, she could not be tired of physically searching for Madeleine-she never did-, she does not have to look after the children the whole day long and she does not have a job.
And I don't believe they came to Lisbon because of Madeleine. because of themselves.

  17. Humptybumpty

I would like to request that you refrain from placing Reg and Ron in the same category as Drs McCann in future please ;)

  18. Just as we all thought: a visit to Portugal for their own purposes but no intention of going anywhere near the place their own PI says their daughter is being held.

    How revolting. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  19. This is beyond madness. They are beyond mad. Kate has got to be completely insane! What is it all about?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Talk of Madeleine's death in the apartment must be stopped even if Kate herself has to show up in Portugal.

Dr Amaral has really put them in a spin with his intention of publication of the book in UK.

All opposition to their abduction theory must be silenced.

They are wasting their time. It wont be.

    ReplyDelete
  21. this is all a front, they are a guilty as sin,let them carry on,because i for one believe that mr amaral has a lot more up his sleeve and when the time is right he will tell all.

  25. Read the link you posted Iron, taken from it, Gerry McCann:

'There's a lot of people in Portugal, who might have evidence, that believe Madeleine is dead.'

    ------

    What does that mean exactly?

We could just as easily say that everyone in Portugal might have evidence and believe that Madeleine is dead.

Or, lots of people in Portugal might have evidence and believe she is alive.

Or the whole of Portugal might have evidence and believe she is alive.

Or we could say that every Portuguese citizen has no information whatsoever to give, if they had they would do so.

We could actually change Gerry's statement to mean anything as it has no foundation whatever.

They just open their mouths and let their bellies rumble!

  26. When the McCanns present their case against Mr. Amaral in court, will it be heard by a jury or just a judge? I've been thinking perhaps this is why the new PR firm in Portugal - to get people (prospective jurors) to buy their version in advance.

  29. I wish I knew exactly how many people, worldwide, feel the same way as most of us do? How many people feel the same outrage as I do, feel the despair that I feel at the apathy, the unquestioning acceptance of something which is so obviously wrong? I cannot imagine what my family, my friends and every normal person around me would feel if my child went missing and I refused to co-operate with the police and hampered the investigation by lying and changing my story every five minutes. They would disown me. I have heard the excuse, 'everyone reacts differently', but here's a thing, take the tapas lot - if 'everyone reacts differently', why do that lot all act exactly the same - like clones? Like bees protecting their hive? Nothing is right. Nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hi A.Miller , I have no idea. I was interested to know what prompted him, while driving, to say he wonders if the "abductor" gave the twins a substance...of all the interviews he has denied sedation and never once mentioned this. Maybe it just popped into his head. He is an arrogant SOB thats for sure.

  31. They said earlier that any money awarded by the courts would be ploughed straight back in to paying for private investigators to investigate their daughter's disappearance.

Now, that's interesting. The same ones who said Madeleine is near PDL, held in a cellar? They have so much trust on their PI's and still they are just sitting in fancy in press conferences, far away from there. Nearest they ever went, was Lissabon, to talk to their lawyers, new PR and press. And off they jettet back to UK. Wow!

What should I think about that ??

    ReplyDelete
  32. First they get an injunction in Portugal which doesn't just stop the sale of Dr. Amaral's book but actually stops Dr Amaral from speaking about the case at all. Next they breeze into Portugal and are free to spout their version of events all over the news knowing that Dr. Amaral has been effectively silenced. These people aren't running scared; these people are running rings around everyone else. If somebody does not come up with an effective strategy soon they're going to walk away with more than a million pounds from Dr. Amaral as well.

  39. The McCanns lost a lot of credibility when it was discovered they were paying their mortgage with the Fund money.

This money been sent in good faith by people, including pensioners and children, that it would be used in the search for Madeleine.

Complete strangers willing to give what little they had to help.

So how much have the McCanns spent of their own money so far?

Any thought of them downsizing to help the Fund at all?

After all, the money they are using is coming from somewhere. So why should they be asking the public to cough up, when they look so well heeled themselves.

I hope they have their skates with them!

  50. Being as how he is going up against a female lawyer and a female judge, I reckon Dr Amaral should get himself a good female lawyer as well.

It's the perception of the McCanns' lawyer arguing in favour of protecting their children that really needs the perceived sensitivity another female lawyer could bring to counter their argument in favour of Dr Amaral.

  52. These people make me sick! But even more sickening is the fact that what Portugal had to endure today with the McCanns is only possible in Portugal because of the vulnerability of certain politicians to blackmail. And finally, it is sickening that there was not a single cop in Portugal to arrest the McCanns upon arrival and charge them with homicide. Even though, it would have been the absolutely correct and appropriate measure applied to everyone under the same circumstances whos name is not McCann, but it would have surely brought the career of this brave cop to a grinding halt by spineless politicians. And, most of all, it would have been very interesting to read the twisted statements and explanations of the public prosecutor to justify the release of the McCanns. I bet, it would have been a real eyeopener and reveal plenty of which is not properly understood right now. One missed chance!

    - you never cooperated with the investigation.
-there isn't a shred of evidence that an abduction occured.
    - the evidence gathered by the investigators points to Madeleine's death.
-the investigation was shelved for political reasons.
-only a small part of the fund is being spent in the search (whatever that is).

Plenty there to be said, without even mentioning Dr. Amaral's book.

How about, Kate McCannn answering the 48 questions she refused to answer regarding the disappearance of her daughter.

Why the McCanns fled Portugal before the investigators had finished with them.

Why the McCanns have not been back since searching themselves for their daughter in Portugal.

Why they have not asked for the investigation to be reopened which they could do.

However, even in Gerry's recent performance there is a little telling slip at 43 seconds. What was meant to be "incredible" distress becomes "credible". Why does this word "incredible" give him the trouble one wonders. You don't have to be Freud to work it out I think. Here's the You Tube link (see it at around 43 seconds).

But Kate has to make sure that Gerry won't be touching his ear/nose/throat/face/head with his other hand, so (even though it is a difficult position for her) she reaches across to keep a tight hold of that loose hand, which has a habit of giving the game way everytime he tells a lie.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I do agree with almost everything written above. Yes SoJ, I wish too he will finally learn to keep his legs together, maybe a good directed kick will help. But that will bereave Kate from her favorite iron grip. How else will Kate make it clear to him that if he does not do what she wants "you know what's gonna happen to these jewels, don't you?"

Btw Kate really does look bad. She's a bit old for anorexia, but then anything to get attention, isn't it? What's even more concerning she is barely able to finish a sentence without gasping for breath. Now if Gerry only half as bad a doctor as I think him to be, we can exclude a lung or heart disease. Remains: either anger or fear (fright, flight, fight). My bet a mix. She has been forced by the comic duo CM & GM to appear and she is scared to death that anyone will ask a real question. (Why didn't anyone??). She rambles, her expensive speech classes are all forgotten, and Gerry is sitting there grinning as my permanently confused dog when he is humping the footstool. The affection between these 2 is reminiscent of the heyday of Charles and Di.

They are truly delusional thinking that winning the heart of the Portuguese by gagging those you don't believe in their 2 made up judicial processes that say there is no proof Madeleine is death.

I do think this will be a turning point. They have chosen the path of brute force with their actions against Dr. Amaral and the MF. Today with their schedule they (again) made it clear what their wider agenda is. And people will not like it.

  85. Derren Brown's apprentices try to hypnotise a whole continent...and very nearly succeed.

They have worked on their act. Over time they have found what gets a good reaction from the public. Although to begin with Kate (after the initial period of shock) was feisty and argumentative she had the personality makeover about a year in and ever since has stuck with the Distraught Martyred Mother look that plays so well with decent folk. GMC has not changed so much, but has given up on the "wider agenda" theatricals and now knows he must stay super-focussed, which he does quite well now - with hardly any verbal slips. He knows now he's never going to be loved, but he will be tolerated if he narrows down his communication channel.

I am sure they have had PR advice and it has helped them a lot.

However, of course, it does not affect what happened on or before 3rd May 2007. They can never change that.

We await our messiah, the individual with the brains, the energy and the courage to pick apart this story as many have done in part but to make sense of the whole.

Until then we can only keep the faith.

This pair will end up so hated it wouldn't surprise me if somebody doesn't take the law into their own hands and rid the world of the pair of them.

  88. This insanity is now spiralling out of control. Who on earth are the big players behind these two and why?
Is it some sort of experiment perhaps, to see just how far normal people can be pushed by these psychotics?
Meanwhile, a little neglected 3 year old girl lies in an unmarked grave.
I truly despair.....they are going to get away with it.

  89. Would someone clarify this for me ?

How is it defamatory for someone to suggest that Madeleine is dead ? The conclusion which was reached by the PJ was that she probably was. After all, the only real evidence they have is of the presence of a dead body inside the apartment.

I can understand that they might seek to make a case for defamation on the grounds that the suggestion was made that they had played a role in disposing of her body, but I do not see how an assertion that Sr Aramal believes the child to be dead can possibly constitute defamation.

On a shorter note, Gerry, stop telling lies. You have been cleared of nothing. There just wasn't enough evidence to charge you.

  90. Why that death grip on Gerry's
leg??? It is just so inappropriate
    and vulgar.

  91. The Guardian's article title has changed to "McCanns return to Portugal in search of Madeleine - and to sue police chief"

I've just figured out another reason they waited to sue Sr. Amaral--they wanted to wait until he sold enough books so he'd have some money to sue for.

Reading the UK crap-rags again reminds me why in more recent times, I stuck to reading this blog. The one-sided bias in the UK coverage is intolerable.

  93. About Maddie's blanket( anon.@ 23/09, 22:00), we all know that the blanket was left behind and photographed!!!That's exactly the point! If it was left in 5A how could it be with Maddie's "abductor" for him to give it to her at night when he/she puts her to sleep?!According to Oprah, who was quoting something she was told that Kate used to say( Oh, I hope He/she is giving her her blanket),the blanket is with Maddie, wherever she might be. I believe that same blanket later vanished from the apartm.,prior to the photographing, and it was not the PJ who took it... did someone take it back to Madeleine? It's not unususal to bury a child with her/his favored toy or comfort blanket...was the blanket left behind a "prop"? A substitute for Maddie's real blanket, or was it the real thing and removed at a later time to join an alive (or dead) Madeline?...

  95. The McCanns new lady lawyer, "goodness gracious me", what a cold fish, better, she looks like a dead fish, she looks positivelly scary, heartless and emotionless. They surelly digged up the right "shark" for the dirty job of destroying Mr. Amaral.
    Brrrr....

  96. In that 30 sec. video Kate looks like she's going to colapse at any moment. She seems numbed, maybe full of tranquilizers?...Not the same smilling, bubbly Kate we saw on the way to America to the Oprah show.

  97. There is a empty chair near Kate.
