Projecto Justiça Gonçalo Amaral. This is the name of an initiative started by a group of citizens showing their solidarity, who have launched a petition for the defense of freedom of expression and the right to defend himself concerning the former PJ coordinator who investigated the Maddie case.
The project is on the internet at http://pjga.blogspot.com. A petition in Portuguese and another in English were launched 3 days ago. At the end of the afternoon, yesterday, the first had 247 [updated nº: 312] signatures and the second 406 [428].
The objective is to denounce at the Portuguese Parliament, at the European Parliament and at the European Court of Human Rights "this attack on freedom of expression", said the forensic psychologist, Paulo Sargento, one of the leaders of the project.
Yesterday a bank account was opened. "It's a support fund to pay the legal expenses of the court cases of the former PJ Inspector" said Paulo Sargento.

I have signed the Portuguese petition, wouldn't let me sign the international one (at least, not with the same mail address).

It's good to see that Goncalo Amaral is being supported in this way. I will sign the petition and although I won't be able to give a lot, I will certainly donate something to the fund. Every little helps, right? We must make a stand, not just for Mr Amaral's freedom of speech, but ultimately for our ourselves and our children.

I will definately donate towards Dr Amaral's legal fees. Good luck to him in his fight for justice for Madeleine and for himself. Also now Paulo Sargento has openly given his support for Dr Amaral, it is a step close for justice for Madeleine and a step closer for the McCanns to face justice.Their behaviour, is the cause of whatever suffering Madeleine endured, before she was cruelly parted from her siblings.

What Goncalo Amaral needs is a rich backer,someone like Brian Kennedy, with unlimited cash. Wouldn't it be great just to see the McCanns' faces when they realised all their money wouldn't give them the advantage this time?

I tried to sign the petition a few hours ago but I haven't received an email to complete the signing yet.

The McCanns couldn't have had much money, when they were in PDL, otherwise they would not have had to "borrow" 2 months mortgage payments out of the fund, when they had only been in PDL for a couple of months.
One would have thought that given the salaries they were on, they would have had quite a nice little nest egg. The McCanns were told that they had to put the money back, because the terms of the fund stated they could only use the money for the purpose it was raised for,finding Madeleine. The terms of the fund were hastily re written, to enable the McCanns, to use the money to aid their finances.
Since then, the McCanns have not only squandered the fund money on themselves and their extravagant life style, but they have previously paid, two lots of Private Detective agencies. These two agencies, not only supplied the McCanns with incompetent private detectives, but they ripped the fund off, by charging extortionate fees.
The McCanns didn't care, they knew the private detectives were incompetent, they wouldn't have used them if they were competent. Also it wasn't their money they were squandering. It was the donations made to the fund, by people like my neighbour, who is a WW2 veteran, who survives on her state pension and a small army pension.
Now the pot is almost empty and the McCanns are desperate to find ways of filling it.They need the fund money to pay the salaries, of the two former British Policeman, who are the McCanns latest team members and of course Clarence.
The McCanns are trying to make a quick buck, or should I say around £1½ million, out of Goncalo Amaral. As well as selling their tacky junk on their website and of course reminding people that Madeleine is still missing, needs to be found and they need donations to find her.
They won't be getting any more money from my neighbour, she was going to make another donation to the fund, until I told her who was to blame for Madeleine's disappearance and how the money was being spent.

A rich sheik. After all the xenophobic attacks against muslims who keep British children prisonners for their harem,it shouldn't be to difficult to find sponsors in arabic countries.

Thank God for some GOOD news at last! I will certainly contribute to Dr. Amaral's defense fund, I was planning to give myself a treat this Christmas, a brand new Kenwood Kitchen machine, but now it will have to wait, this is a much worthy and urgent cause, far more important than easy baking,lol! I just hope it is set up in a very secure way, out of reach from the greedy McCanns and their despicable lawyers! HANDS-OFF MCCANNS!
I must make a contriction act and apologize for doubting Dr. Paulo Sargento, I thought he had had a change of heart or had been forced into silence too, I feel so ashamed, I should have known better, he's a man of integrity and now he's proving it once again. He must have had his reasons for keeping silent for a while, sometimes it is necessary and wise.

Finally good news. We should do everything we can to stop the censure and to get justice for Madeleine and G.A.
I spread the petitions trough all my e-mail adresses and troug some Media Blogs. I would like to invite everybody to do the same in special in Spain and France, two Countrys where some Tv programes have been gagged and where there is a big portuguese community. Well done Joana and Paulo Sargento.

Joana, li varios artigos relativos as peticoes na imprensa portuguesa (on-line), mas em nenhum tem indicacao de como se assinam e onde se podem assinar as peticoes. Pelos comentarios nos blogs desses jornais percebe-se que as pessoas querem assinar e fazer donativos mas nao sabem como faze-lo. seria bom que quem esta a promover as peticoes pedisse aos jornais que informassem com clareza como faze-lo. A MENSAGEM TEM DE PASSAR TRANSVERSALMENTE ATRAVES DA SOCIEDADE para que os objectivos sejam cumpridos rapidamente. BOM TRABALHO!!
Hello Anonymous(comment26)I wouldn't expect any supporter,of the McCanns, to sign the petition, or contribute to the fund to help Goncalo Amaral,with his legal fees.
Dr Amaral wouldn't need a petition, or help with his legal fees, if the dispicable, greedy, ghastly,cowardly,call them what you will McCanns,had been taken into custody,charged and told they would be prosecuted, once the PJ established that their behaviour, was the cause of whatever had befallen Madeleine.
The supporters of the McCanns are just as cowardly and ghastly, I don't know how anyone can support this pair of child abusers. The McCanns behaviour towards their 3 children in PDL, was a form of child abuse.
Dr Amaral, doesn't need your support Anonymous.He will get all the support he needs, financially or otherwise, from those of us who love all children and want anyone who harms them, to be brought to justice.

I've made a comment before(#25) but forgot to mention something that is bothering me: what's the news on Dr. Amaral's request for legal aid? I presume it has been not granted...has he had any reply yet? I bet the court or whoever decides about it will be postponing the answer ad-eternum, avoiding a straightforward NO, that would not fall right with the public opinion, would it?...( I mean, if there was any intention to grant such aid they would have said YES by now)
At this rate I dont think Mr Amaral will need state legal aid (#35) it seems to me that Mr amaral is going to get alot of money handed over to his Legal/Defence Fund, oh yes Joana/Ironside what a nice weekend it is turning out tobe.
