  1. I take it from my attempt to translate that Amaral is linking himself to a wider battle for free speech and proclaiming this as a human right issue. Absolutely!

Is there anywhere we can send money in support of teh campaign?

  4. Dear Anonymous 3, it is not the English Gag, no. This blog needs to be bilingual at this particular moment, for the last 2 and a half years we have tried to inform people in England of what our press and other foreign press said about the case, many blogs, sites and forums in English are available now in the web. Unfortunately, the Portuguese don't have a blog like this one for them to keep updated on what is happening, therefore we've decided to fill in that void, and so this blog sometimes will have posts in Portuguese other times in English. Thank you for your understanding.

  5. it's very important for people to realise that all our freedom of expression will be eroded if we don't do something about it .

Sr. Amaral is doing his absolute best to prevent gagging but we must all do our bit too e.g. write to our member of parliament or our local radio stations voicing our concerns for our human rights to speak and write openly , without fear of proscecution .

  7. Hello, I bought mine yesterday in "El Corte Inglés", in Lisbon!I had a look around their book section and did not see it, so I asked the shop atendants and they were about to put the books on display. I'm pretty sure I was one of the first to buy it there, yupee. I haven't read it yet, I want to read it all in one go, and so far I couldn't find the time, maybe on Saturday night!

De certo que vou ler e reler este livro várias vezes, assim como aconteceu com "A verdade da mentira".

  10. @ NO.3 Google toolbar will translate to english for you quiet easily.
Thankyou beautiful Joana for yor wonderful blog, without it people like me would have never heard the other side of the story and would have kept on beleiving the Mc's propoganda.
It was the injunction that made me ( and many more I would imagine ) Google it to see just what the Mc's were trying to keep us from seeing, so it sort of backfired on them and made many people curious!.
Now I don't beleive a word that they have ever said.
On a lighter note... Clarence would fit perfectly into the TV show little Britain, He'd make a great " I'm the only gay in the village" as someone who is also oblivious to the facts.

  11. Thank you Joana, for the information. I will buy the book online and translate it for my english and french friends. But I think will be a good idea to translate the book for online sales.
The stupid Mccann's did not realise that the injuction which they made against Amaral, did not help nothing on their image clean-up and did not help Maddie search. BUT THAT STRANGE BEHAVIOUR, RAISE A LOT OF CURIOSITY IN THE PUBLIC WHICH NOW, WANT'S TO KNOW WHAT IS IN AMARAL'S BOOK THAT MADE THEM SO ANGRY AND SO AVAILABLE TO GO TO PORTUGAL WATCHING THE TRIAL. THEY BECAME THE MASTERPIECE IN THE ADVERTISEMENT OF AMARAL BOOKS. HI! HI! HI! " DEUS ESCREVE CERTO POR LINHAS TORTAS".
TODAY, CHEARS TO THE MCCANN'S, Amaral books were worldwise known and everybody want's to buy them and know what that "suposed and careless parents" want to silence. MY ARABE FRIENDS THEY HAVE A LOT OF CURIOSITY TO KNOW WAT HIS IN THAT BOOK. PLEASE THINK ON AN ONLINE TRANSLATION SOON. WILL BE A BEST-SELLER AS DAN BROWN BOOKS. IN Mid time I will translate for my friends the man issues on the book. PART OF MY PRESENTS FOR CRISTHMAS.

  12. Thanks for the information, Joana. I have ordered dear Goncalo's book from Livraria Leitura, an incredibly easy transaction. My New Year resolution is now to learn Portuguese! I really, really hope Goncalo will receive all the royalties from the sales, I would hate to inadvertently pay into the Gruesome Celebrity Support Fund.

  13. Yes, please, Joana and #12, an online translation would be brilliant. Or I will be a very long time reading it as I am only starting my Portuguese lessons in January!
