Murdoch's Scum gets even more scummiest: Dead Paedophile's Ghost “knew” who took Maddie

Murdoch's Scum Exclusive Lie: "I know who took Maddie"...

.. after Egg-man, pimple-man, Snail Gail Cooper's beast-man, Victoria in Barcelona, the George Harrison/Gipsy look-a-like and after the duo Charles O'Neill/William Lauchlan (Homosexual paedophiles who are in jail somewhere in Scotland) we are back to "dead-man in a wheel chair". Yes, you've guessed it. It's Raymond Hewlett's Ghost who has written a letter from the after-life. Wonder if the letter is truthful and how much did the "son-of-a-dead-paedophile" got from selling this story to the Scum?!

By Scum bag extraordinaire ANTONELLA LAZZERI [a.lazzeri@the-sun.co.uk] and ANDY PRICK, I mean CRICK

MADELEINE McCann suspect Raymond Hewlett confessed on his deathbed that he KNEW what happened to the little girl, The Sun can reveal.

In a letter to his estranged son Wayne, he denied having anything to do with Maddie's disappearance. But he said he knew she had been stolen to order by a gipsy gang who kidnap children for wealthy couples unable to have kids or adopt. [Gipsies, again?!!!!!]

Hewlett, a serial paedophile seen near the spot where Maddie was snatched in Portugal, said they had a "shopping list" of potential targets - such as a little girl with blonde hair like Maddie.

Private detectives working for Maddie's parents Kate and Gerry are "extremely interested" in Hewlett's claims.

A source close to their ongoing investigation said: "What he says fits the No1 theory, which is that she was stolen to order." [No.1 theory in Lazzeri's single neurone brain]

Hewlett died of throat cancer in April, aged 62, after persistently refusing to meet the McCanns' detectives. He became a suspect because of his appalling record of rape and abduction of children.

And he was living as a nomad in Portugal with his second family when Maddie vanished from the McCanns' holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in May 2007. Hewlett's letter to builder [builder with a house mortgage to pay?] Wayne, 40, was delivered to the son by a mystery man [Dave Edgar, Francisco Marco, Kevin Halligen, Clarence Mitchell, Gerry McCann himself?.....] - thought to be a solicitor [Gosh, Adam Tudor?] or a private eye - a week after he died.

Most of it was an apology for how his vile crimes had affected his first wife Susan and Wayne. But then he went on to write about Maddie, who was nearly four when she went missing.

Wayne [selling your father to the Scum, what a nice thing to do in his memory], of Telford, Shropshire, said: "It was a bolt from the blue and I shook when I read it.

"He stated he didn't want to go to his grave with us thinking he had done such a horrible thing.

"He said he had had nothing to do with taking Maddie but did know who had.

"He said a very good gipsy friend he knew in Portugal had got drunk and 'let it out' that he had stolen Maddie to order as part of a gang.

"My dad said this gang had been operating for a long time and had snatched children before for couples who couldn't have children of their own.

"Maddie had been targeted. They took photos of children and sent them to the people they were acting for. And they said Yes or No.

"Dad said the man told him it was nothing to do with snatching children for a paedophile gang or for a sexual reason.

"He said there were huge sums of money involved. And he totally believed what this man was saying." The account fits with others surrounding the Maddie mystery. [what others?]

Several strange men [and dogs, and cats, their fleas, the locals, and women, and children, tourists?] were seen taking photos of children around the Ocean Club resort in the days before she vanished. And The Sun revealed earlier this year that a British expat thought he had seen Maddie in a white van driven by a gipsy couple the day after she was lost. [The guitar man.... again]

Wayne, who had no contact with Hewlett for nearly 20 years, said his father's letter seemed "very genuine".

He added: "I don't know if this is what happened to Maddie or not, but it does make sense. I can't believe he'd go to those lengths to make up some elaborate lie when he was so weak and ill."

Wayne said he considered going to Kate and Gerry with the letter but was worried it could cause them more heartache if it gave them false hope. He added: "I actually burned it because it unnerved me so much. [Oh, no evidence then to prove the lie?! How unsurprisingly obvious!]

"To have a letter from someone you hated for so long was just mind-blowing. I couldn't deal with it." [Ah! A little post-mortem revenge, Wayne still has some issues with daddy]

Wayne did not contact The Sun about the message. We learned of its existence through a friend. [sorry Scum, we know you pay cash for spoofs like this one] But now he intends to sit down with the Maddie detectives to tell them everything he knows. [$$$$$  Wayne?]

The McCanns' spokesman Clarence Mitchell said last night: "We are extremely grateful to Wayne for coming forward with this information and the detective team will be interviewing him as a matter of priority."

Side Fish:

'Lora my Luggage to Carry'

The dimwitted imbecile Lorraine Kelly @reallorraine carries a «luggage tag with a picture of the youngster, who disappeared in 2007, read: "Do not give up on me." [We won't Lora, you still have at least 20 more years to grow up.]

  1. Hello Wayne?

How about heading over to Portugal and giving that information to the PORTUGUESE POLICE IN CHARGE OF THE INVESTIGATION?

Surely Mitchell paid you enough for your LIES to afford a little holiday in the Algarve.

You are lying piece of scum Wayne and you've sold your soul to the highest bidder.

We all knew the McCanns would try the Hewlett angle, didn't we?

NOBODY IS BELIEVING THIS PINKY. NOBODY.

  5. Just when you thought you had it heard it all in this case, turns out you hadn't. Not by a long chalk, it seems.

And of course, this latest drivel which will be believed by the Sun's readership fits in nicely with the 'no evidence she has come to any harm' mantra. Well, it would if it weren't for the evidence that Madeleine had indeed come to harm.

Truly sickening that TM can jump on this claptrap (burned letter, lol), it just shows how desperate they still are to be believed. Kate, Gerry, Hewlett, Clarence, the Scum and R Wayne all deserve each other.

    But this !!
It is like a cheap child's story, mystery solicitors, secret letters now burned, the writer dead, recollections from many months ago, and he will not of course speak to a proper police officer, only to the McCann's private Cuntstabulary.
Don't take your eyes off the Halligen case.

  12. Interview Sky News E. Holmes/John Gaunt Re Hewlett:

    WHO 'GOT TO' GAUNT?

    Gaunt (in ref to Hewlett):

He’s the man who some people thought may be had abducted Maddie McCann, he then refused of course to talk to detectives, he died of cancer last April, now a letter has been delivered allegedly from him to his son. Now his son hadn’t spent any time with his dad for the last twenty years, but in this letter Raymond Hewlett, according to the SUN said he knows who took Maddie, and he says it’s a gipsy gang who were stealing children to order - not for a paedophile ring. So there might be some comfort there for Gerry and Kate, although limited comfort – but for families who couldn’t have children themselves.

    Eammon:
But the awful thing about something like this is, because this man was so cowardly he wouldn’t allow himself to be questioned, there’s no way of ever eh...

    Gaunt:
...No way of ever knowing if it’s true.

You’re right and it prolongs the agony for Kate and Gerry, it also keeps story alive I guess, so maybe they see it as a positive. Clarence Mitchell their spokesman says he now wants a full investigation into the claims but clearly this would back up what they think, they think Maddie is still alive abducted by maybe, not a paedophile ring, but someone who could not have children of their own.
It’s a very distressing story though, it’s got to be said.

    END

I see too that Hewlett was cowardly for not allowing himself to be questioned by detectives (not police detectives we must clarify- but the McCann dodgy ones)

What I must ask, WHAT does that make Kate McCann? She refused to answer 40+ questions by police authority officially investigating the disappearance of her daughter?

I'd say way more than cowardly! SUSPICIOUS!

And Clarence - He wants a full review of this CLAIM!

Quite astonishing really, they don't appear to want a review or an re-opening of the case whereby the tapas bunch will be questioned - THE COWARDLY SICK BUNCH but a review of a claim made by a man (Hewletts son supposedly- wonder what crossed his palm?) who HASN'T NOW GOT THE LETTER HE CLAIMED TO RECEIVE AS HE BURNT IT!

He thought it might give Kate and Gerry false hope!

My a-se in parsely, he did!

He is no better than all the rest, his father included!

Cut obviously from the same cloth as Tanner, Oldfield, and Fiona Payne - NONE of them wanted to upset the McCann's either!

Never mind Madeleine anyone - go easy - as Gaunt did today - as we might offend the parents, AKA the tapas bunch, of all of those little children who were abandoned for six nights on the trot while there parents partied.

Interestingly the SUN tell us that the McCann theory is the most "popular" one.

Should we tell them, that is ONLY amongst Team McCann- and even then, some of them will only be going along with it for the money!

You couldn't make this up - but Clarence Can!

They are running scared when they come up with this load of cr-p! We are now down to the absolute dregs!

  13. He burned it...as you would, if you wanted maximum publicity with zero evidence. Jeni Weinberger also told a "Gypsy tale". It all reminds me of The Prioresses Tale by Chaucer, where the Jews are blamed by the hypocritical storyteller for the death of a Christian child, disposed of down a well. We haven't moved far from this sort of mythology.

Hope there`s enough in it for him to have himself exposed & associated with a dad like his.

  18. And yet the circus goes on.

Honestly, the lengths that these fucking parasites will go to is beyond me.

I am getting tired of this ill-informed country. STOP reading these tabloids. Do not encourage them to write this shit.

The thing is with The Sun; you can always comment on anything on their page but when it comes to a "Maddie" story you cannot add a comment---I wonder why, eh?

This latest article is a fucking scam to fool the idiots but I've got news for you McCanns: only the fools believe you. The REAL people of this world are not stupid enough to be taken in by your nonsense.

Also, let's not detract away from the fact that this letter was no doubt a typed letter and anyway, even if it was a hand-written letter do you think this "son" would recognize it?

Britain, wake the fuck up! You are being conned and taken the piss out of.

Fits in nicely with the Parents Mantra that Maddie has come to no harm and is being looked after by a loving couple.

But, wait a minute...... Edgar Plod is certain that Maddie is holed up in a Liar (sorry a lair) in PDL.

Oh dear, back to the drawing board.

  22. #20, there IS no evidence... Good old Wayne BURNED the evidence! This is so so so predictable, it's boring: We're back to the gypsies (laziest gypsies in the world, there are NO other cases of small children being abducted anywhere in Portugal, ever!) - abducted to order, with photographs being sent for approval (never mind that Maddie had been in Luz for only a few days, and was rarely seen in public, as she was stuck in the Kids Club all day...) - and God forbid she was abducted by pedophiles, that's an angle that the McCanns have to avoid at any cost, because they HAVE TO KEEP MADDIE ALIVE AND ***UNHARMED*** in the eyes of the public.
This myth of the little princess that is being kept alive and in perfect health by a loving couple is absolutely CRUCIAL for the McCanns and their entourage.
Never mind that it is the most remote, the most unbelievable and the most fantastic theory of them all: they cannot allow for any other option.
Remember Gerry's initial "assessment"? That Maddie had been kidnapped by a pedo? He quickly realised the cons of that story. So he changed it.
This is now the official story: Maddie was taken by gypsies, abducted by order, for illegal adoption. Makes perfect sense... they think.
Except that any rational mind will realise that it is impossible.

    Impossible.

  23. Sent the following to 'Sky' this morning:

    WHO GOT TO JON GAUNT?

What was all that nonsense about his morning with Jon Gaunt (speaking with Eammon Holmes) re missing Madeleine McCann?

The world knows that Clarence Mitchell is paid to spin for the McCann family. Yes indeed spin. Shocking I know when we are talking about the life of a child, but spin he is paid to do.

The man Hewlett, whilst we all know what he is, the scum of the earth, but he has never in any way been linked to the case of missing Madeleine - except in the mind of the Clarence, as it serves his purpose.

Eamonn makes a statement that Hewlett was a coward not to have allowed the dodgy McCann detectives to question him. The guy was dying and would YOU speak to any of the five dodgy companies the McCann's have employed? NO mention that Kate McCann REFUSED to answer 40 + questions put to her by the OFFICIAL POLICE AUTHORITY INVESTIGATING THE DISAPPEARANCE OF HER DAUGHTER! And rather amusingly, Gaunty states that Clarence wants a full review of this claim made by the EVEN MORE DODGY son of Hewlett?

Maybe a full review or rather a RE-OPENING of this case would be more helpful. That way Kate McCann CAN answer all of the questions she refused to. Both her and Gerry McCann and their 7 dodgy pals could also take part in the official police reconstruction of the events of the night this child disappeared - which they so far have REFUSED to do - the reasons given all selfish. While Madeleine if alive, rots somewhere, they feel to help would be pointless.

Come on Eamonn and Gaunty, you both could have done one hell of a lot better this morning for this child and you both know it.

If that guy at any time had a letter from his father - HE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN IT IMMEDIATELY TO POLICE AUTHORITIES. Not burnt it and then months down the line made claims.

We all know this is a load of bunkum.

If Sky cannot report/interview honestly - don't do so at all. Better left than to make a mockery of the circumstances that this child disappeared. Waken up and smell the coffee, go read the official police files before making any further reports. And note also that there is a very important case this week which the public need distracted from - TIMING IS EVERYTHING - and this nonsense about a letter claiming to know it was gipsies who took Madeleine - is just that, diversionary nonsense.

Halligen who is up in Court this week is one of the FIVE lots of dodgy detectives hired by the McCann's (incidentally none of these companies had any prior experience in looking for missing persons) who was wanted by the FBI.

McCann's paid him thousands upon thousands for NOTHING.

Yet Clarence Mitchell said they were very happy with the work he had done for them???????

Now why would he say that? Why indeed?

Eamonn, stated that Hewlett was a coward for not allowing himself to be questioned. What does that make Kate McCann and her mates who ALL refused the very same thing and MORE?

    cntd

    ReplyDelete
  24. Gaunty you omitted to say that it was the dodgy McCann detectives that Hewlett refused to speak with, NOT the police either Portuguese or British. British police did interview this man, though NOT in connection with Madeleine McCann. Had they any need to they would have.

So this story is exactly that. Nothing but spin and nonsense to divert from other goings on.

Who got to you Gaunty? That is what I would like to know. It was quite saddening and sickening to hear you this morning when I believe that you were very aware that every word you uttered was what you had been told to.

The nation should campaign to have this case RE-OPENED. Not to have some sham of a 'review' only, as led by the McCann's and their team of legal eagles who have raked a fortune for themselves in this case.

And something which may have escaped everyone's attention, that is the reporters -Madeleine disappeared in Portugal, if there is any re-opening it will be a Portuguese Police Investigation! By the proper police, not one instructed by Clarence and McCann's pretendy police force.

The whole affair is a disgrace. And for anyone with an ounce of sense they simply have to view and read the many interviews (televised) and statements, police statements also made by the McCann's and their friends, to see the many gaping holes, inconsistencies and lies.

It shocks me to the core that this child is missing and this is ALLOWED, yes allowed to happen, to go unchecked.

Gaunty and Eamonn - Shame on you both!

I find this really interesting, it proves that you can basically sell any fairytale to the media and with a little luck, it will even spread world-wide. It's really fascinating, in a scary kind of way. It also raises some very considerable suspicions about everything else that is being reported by the media, especially by a certain type of UK media.

And Antonella is living also under the magic money of a fraudulent Fund based in a crime.

The toothless PCC [Press Complaints Comission] is at Dacre's hands, who was appointed the chairman of the Editors committee, who apparently regulates the PCC. OFCOM in their last report on media [broadcast media] failed totally in reporting the xenophobic manner which Sky News, the BBC, and others have reported the «McCann Affair». So, the only way is exposing them outside the mainstream media, ie, on blogs and if possible, on the opposition's media - like the Guardian, or the Independent, Evening Standard, or in any media that has balls to go against the increasingly powerful Murdochs' News Corporation & Dacre's horrid infotainment tactics.

Why aren’t the Leicestershire Police team, ’Operation Task’, sitting down with Wayne Hewlett? This is a criminal investigation in the case of a missing child. The claims made by Wayne Hewlett and The Sun reporter, should to be properly investigated by an official police force.

Why did Wayne Hewlett, supposedly, burn vital evidence in the most high profile ‘abduction’ in history? Surely he knows the McCann’s have, for the last 3 years, appealed for information.

Why would he think the letter would cause heartache to the McCann’s? Surely he knows they’ve spent £millions of publicly donated money trying to ‘find’ their daughter - all of it wasted on charlatans such as Kevin Halligen, Metodo3 etc etc.

  47. Miss Marple here. Raymond Hewlett senior and son Wayne Hewlett had not been on speaking terms for twenty years. So how did Raymond Hewlett know his son's current address?
This is a flimsy curtain flapping across the Haligen case coming up.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Did Wayne’s father, Raymond Hewlett, die in hospital? Did Raymond Hewlett write the letter from his hospital bed? If so, who supplied the pen and paper - I think whoever did so would remember? When did he write the letter? Given Hewlett had terminal cancer (and between morphine shots and oxygen masks) was he physically capable of writing a letter ? Who did Hewlett pass the letter to? Who was the ‘mystery’ delivery man? Who is the ‘friend’ who contacted to the Sun newspaper? Why did Hewlett impart this highly sensitive information to a son he had not seen in 20 years? Why did he not confide in someone he was in close contact with before his death?

    This 'story' is not credible.

  50. Clarence Mitchell is ‘grateful’ to Wayne Hewlett for information
(received second hand through a friend) although Hewlett didn’t come forward with it for four months and, of course, not before he had burned the evidence..... well, that’s according to the Sun newspaper.

  51. Have Team McCann been reserving the publication of this story for an opportune moment, like today for instance? Was it supposed to overshadow the Kevin Halligen hearing today? That hearing has now been postponed until 20 September so in three weeks time this story will have to be rehashed or another one invented.

  52. I was so certain that the McCanns would attempt to use Hewlett in their end game that I spent a few MONTHS focused on finding everything I could about him.

I used library databases to access articles no longer available online. I studied the Lesley Molseed murder. I tracked Hewlett's years "on the run" in Ireland and elsewhere (mostly Ireland). I read every article the hacks had written to implicate him and analysed the way they ignored the actions of the Portuguese police, who very early on checked Hewlett out (DNA sample, searched the van etc.)

I've stored most of the articles here: http://raymondhewlett.blogspot.com/

Remember, please, that Peter Verran was used to point the finger at Hewlett in the first place (along with the Thompsons). Interesting comments about Verran have been left on my blog by someone who apparently knows *his* background as well.

The gipsy claim is absolutely ridiculous. As was pointed out above, there are NO other cases in Portugal of children being stolen to order by gipsies. There ARE, however, articles that indicate that the McCann "investigators" went undercover amid the gipsy population in the area. So say the hacks, but who knows the truth?

The McCanns apparently realised that they were not going to get away with their plan to implicate Hewlett as the actual abductor - too many people were on to the facts (his cancer, his location far away from PdL, the huge holes in Verran's statements etc.) So now this.

Bottom line. A burned letter simply means that the entire Maddie case now sits on the shoulders of the man who is claiming it existed. It is imperative that the case is reopened in Portugal and that this "witness" Wayne is brought in for intense questioning, submits to a lie detector test etc. His financial records need to be investigated by the PORTUGUESE and everything about Wayne's life and character must be looked at by the PJ.

What a terrible choice the McCanns have made here. To attempt to escape responsibility for their own crimes by using one man claiming to have the key to Maddie's fate hidden in a pile of ashes.

  53. This is just piffle - there is no evidence to investigate - so it means absolutely nothing. No Police force can investigate without proof - it's just heresay.

Shame - really, really sad that some people can swallow this media rubbish. What we want is the Truth - not some money-inspired assertion of "stealing to order by Gypsies".

I think you have hit the nail on the head! Print some other headlines to take the spotlight of what is going on in connection with Halligan, especially when the McCanns are coming under scrutiny for not doing a darned thing about the money spent from the Madeleine Fund by their chosen so called professional and the fact that no sightings were followed us by him.

Maybe, as many people think, it was all a plot from the start for certain parties to find fame and fortune via world wide publicity and that Madeleine is ready to be given back to the world in the near future. How I wish it were true.

  55. According to Wayne Hewlett his father wrote that Maddie was stolen to order, by gypsies, for a wealthy childless couple. These grubby, underclass gypsies managed to abduct a child of almost four right under the noses of her own father Gerry McCann, Jane Tanner and Jeremy Wilkins. They then managed to escape without leaving a forensic trace, of either themselves or Maddie behind them. Maddie and the abductors have never been seen or heard of since.

There were three children in the apartment, two them were not much more than babies, why would gypsies take a feisty, articulate 4-year old who, as Kate McCann said, could give her ‘tuppenceworth’? A 2-year-old would be easier for an abductor to carry and far easier for a childless couple to manage. Now that the wealthy childless couple have kidnapped the most famous child in history they must keep her hidden away for ever but at least they have a child to love and look after.

I know we have to suspend disbelief when watching a movie but this is real life.

And to think that Hewlett was considered SICK - what about all those who continue to dishonour the memory of Madeleine.

    ..................................

Yes that's right, Hewlett did agree to a 60 minute interview with Edgar & Cowley which, we were told, was all that he could manage. However, Edgar & Cowley declined the offer saying that they needed 5 hours to interview him. Very strange. You can say an awful lot in an hour can't you? But it just wasn't enough time for those interpid private detectives who, by the way, assured us that Maddie was being held in a hellish lair

Please can someone confirm that this is indeed a very serious crime. When faced with losing his own liberty for this farce he may indeed tell us exactly who encouraged and paid for this ridiculous tale. The route to all the answers in this is to arrest all the accomplices and give then give them immunity from prosecution or severe punishment if they finally tell the truth.

When I read your comment it made me think of the photos of Susan Healy and her husband in the church for a "memorial" to Maddie. The sorrow on their faces was excruiating to see. That little girl spent a lot of time with her Grandmother. Perhaps it was to this Grandmother that McCanns were considering "giving" their less than perfect child to. Perhaps it is this Grandmother that has deep regrets that she did not keep that "little child" with her.

Perhaps its this Grandmother that will crack? And tell the truth. Or maybe she thinks it's better the twins are brought upp by their evil parents.

  65. Hi - I posted this older article on the thread about the resignations from the McCann fund & was requested to re-post it here, so here ya go:

    10 April 2010
    The Sun
    Neil Syson

A paedophile who was a prime suspect in the hunt for Madeleine McCann has died - taking any secrets he had to the grave.

Convicted child rapist Raymond Hewlett, 64, died of throat cancer and was cremated at a pauper's funeral in Germany four months ago. His ex-wife Susan, 64, and children in Telford, Shropshire, were unaware of his death.

Two private detectives hired by Maddie's parents Kate and Gerry went to Aachen, Germany, at least three times in a bid to interview Hewlett. But a source said: "He always wriggled out of it, saying he was too sick to see them. He was never eliminated from the inquiry."

Maddie, of Rothley, Leics, was three when she vanished on holiday in Portugal in May 2007. Ex-soldier Hewlett bore a close resemblance to a straggly-haired man seen lurking near the McCann apartment.

He was in Portugal when Maddie was snatched and left for Morocco three weeks later. And he told a pal he knew gipsies who sold children to perverts. Hewlett's German second wife Mariana, 35, refused to comment.

  67. There are people in this world who have no empathy whatsoever and who have no qualms about doing anything as long as there is something in it for them. Most everyone knew that this dying man was going to be used in someway by team McCann to delude the public, so this type of story was not totally unexpected. Yes some will be fooled, but many with average intelligence who can think for themselves will realise that this is all hogwash.

How long will the circus last? Well, If authorities have given up on the case, and no one is coming forth with a confession then unfortunately the circus will last our lifetimes. We are dealing with a couple that has a mental illness known as a narcissistic personality disorder. People with this disease will try to change
history with fanciful lies; they are also very paranoid and therefore must keep a constant eye on whom they perceive to be their enemies.

I believe this Halligen character could break this case wide open, however I have a feeling that great efforts are being made to prevent this Mr. Halligen from leaving Britain.

  68. How convenient that the abductor who was taking photographs and who selected Madeleine chose the child of the only parents in the whole group to leave their patio doors open. Why would a wealthy childless couple simply not hire a surrogate? The child could be taken out and sent to school and allowed to meet all their friends and relatives, something that could never happen with Madeleine UNLESS they dyed her hair which rather defeats the object of acquiring a blonde child.Even Sun readers wont fall for this tripe

  69. Serious question:

Has there ever been a case of a child abducted by Portuguese gypsies?

According to Wayne Hewlett, it happens often.

"He (Raymond Hewlett) said (in the letter burned by Wayne)a very good gipsy friend he knew in Portugal had got drunk and 'let it out' that he had stolen Maddie to order as part of a gang.

"My dad said this gang had been operating for a long time and had snatched children before for couples who couldn't have children of their own."

Is there anything on record indicating this has EVER happened?

If I were Portuguese and operating a business in the Algarve, I'd sue Wayne Hewlett for the obvious impact these lies would have on my business.

Take a lie detector test, Wayne. What is it like to sell your soul for a few pieces of silver? You and Peter Verran might enjoy each others company. Make sure you were paid at least as much as Verran was.

The next day they went further in their fiendishly cunning plan to create good
Maddie vibes, they rang him and asked him if he had a story he wanted to sell, then they gave Lazzie a hot tip off posing as a friend of Gerry's... they did not realise all Gerry's friends resigned. Brilliant!

But there is always a possibility that this story could be true, however slight that possibility may be.
So what would you expect The McCanns to do? Ignore it? Even that would be deemed wrong if they did.
It would be said that they didn't care enough to follow up any evidence no matter how suspect.

Other conclusions have been come to on far less evidence than this.

'So what would you expect The McCanns to do?'

I agree with you that this information should be taken seriously. If the McCann's or their investigators believe there is any substance to the Sun's report then it should be thoroughly investigated.

The McCann's knew all about this story prior to publication. Clarence Mitchell is quoted expressing his gratitude to Wayne for information received. Why didnt Wayne go to the police? Why didn't The Sun go to the police? If there is anything at all of importance in this story, why then didn't the Mccann's go to the police?

Why do the Mccann's still rely on private detectives who have, to date, consistantly demonstrated a truly dreadful track record in this case? And why did they wait for The Sun to publish a story they've known about for some time when, instead, they could and should have requested Leics police (acting on behalf of lead police force, the PJ) to question Wayne Hewlett without delay? That is what I would expect them to do.

  80. Sabot (#75), this is no laughing matter.

Secondly, as to what I would expect the McCanns to do: Certainly not what they are proposing, which is to send their PIs, who are now totally without legal authority, to interview Wayne Hewlett.

If they truly believed that there was still hope that Maddie might be alive somewhere, I would expect them to (1) express outrage that Wayne destroyed the letter instead of taking it immediately to the police; (2) issue a plea for the mysterious deliveryman of the letter to come forward and tell what he knows; (3) and most of all, demand that a police force with jurisdiction, not their PIs, jump on this immediately and check it out thoroughly and completely.

As that is not what they are doing, I take their attitude as still more of an indication that they know Maddie will not be found alive no matter what anyone does.

Such a pice of evidence would have high value not only financially, but could be sufficient as new evidence to open the enquiry.Portugal should be officially notified, by l.police. 92. Interesting article by John Pilger here
    http://www.truth-out.org/flying-flag-faking-news62920

"Edward Bernays, the American nephew of Sigmund Freud, is said to have invented modern propaganda. During the First World War, he was one of a group of influential liberals who mounted a secret government campaign to persuade reluctant Americans to send an army to the bloodbath in Europe. In his book, "Propaganda," published in 1928, Bernays wrote that the "intelligent manipulation of the organised habits and opinions of the masses was an important element in democratic society" and that the manipulators "constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power in our country." Instead of propaganda, he coined the euphemism "public relations."
    ...
Bernays was no rabid right winger. He was an elitist liberal who believed that "engineering public consent" was for the greater good. This was achieved by the creation of "false realities," which then became "news events."
    ...
Of course, the good news is that false realities often fail when the public trusts its own critical intelligence, not the media. Two classified documents recently released by WikiLeaks express the CIA's concern that the populations of European countries, which oppose their governments' war policies, are not succumbing to the usual propaganda spun through the media. For the rulers of the world, this is a conundrum, because their unaccountable power rests on the false reality that no popular resistance works. And it does."

John Pilger gives some exemples of cases of "false realities" and the actual facts, mostly related to the war in Iraq, the economy and the government.

Here is my take on the disappearance of little Madeleine.

False reality - Madeleine McCann was abducted to order for a kind wealthy couple, hence she came to no harm, in spite of the necessary assistance of a frightening bogeyman. However she deserves to be returned to her loving family, and the donations from the public will help in this tireless search. Anyone saying otherwise is harming the search and Madeleine, they must be sued, especially if they are Portuguese.

Fact - Madeleine McCann died in apartment 5A under circumstances as yet unknown. Her cadaver was concealed by her parents with the tacit or active complicity of their friends. Also with the complicity of friends and family, they set up a fund which defrauded the public under the misapprehension that it was a charity aimed at finding Madeleine. The money went instead to PR people, fake detectives and expensive lawyers, their own family members - employees of the "firm" - and the odd mortgage repayment.

This is how "Propaganda" by Bernays ends :

"Undoubtedly the public is becoming aware of the methods which are being used to mold its opinions and habits. If the public is better informed about the processes of its own life, it will be so much the more receptive to reasonable appeals to its own interests. No matter how sophisticated, how cynical the public may become about publicity methods, it must respond to the basic appeals, because it will always need food, crave amusement, long for beauty, respond to leadership.
If the public becomes more intelligent in its commercial demands, commercial firms will meet the new standards. If it becomes weary of the old methods used to persuade it to accept a given idea or commodity, its leaders will present their appeals more intelligently.
Propaganda will never die out. Intelligent men must realize that propaganda is the modern instrument by which they can fight for productive ends and help to bring order out of chaos."

Bernay's ideas were, not all but mostly for commercial uses, providing the tobacco industry with women consumers, providing the pig industry with people suddenly wanting to have bacon for breakfast. Although it seems he was far from squeamish, what would he have have made out, I wonder, of the use of "his" propaganda in the disappearance of a little girl, turning her into a product, a commodity making money for her parents, selling papers? and how would that bring order out of chaos?

I like this - I certainly didn't realise that John Pilger had written this about Edmund Bernays. This is my opinion about advertising and always has been - funny really, I just can't abide being "led by the nose" and always try to make educated decisions about everything. Sometimes actually just for awkwardness I will do exactly opposite to what I am being 'persuaded' to do.

So it seems that this is what is happening with regard to the McCanns. But the papers don't seem to be making very much by it because they could make far more if they actually printed "their opinions" and not the tripe the McCanns want them to.

  96. Gypsies do not have to steal children to sell to others, they have enough of their own if they wish to sell children. So Wayne, I think you are talking a load of hogwash about your burnt letter. Why on earth would you burn it ? I would keep it close to my heart and use it as blackmail, you silly builder !

  97. McCanns can't leave Mr Hewlett in peace like they did with Madeleine who is dead. They always find some new story to take the attention off them. The hospital in Germany said Mr Hewlett was very ill and not strong enough to write a letter. He has not been in contact with his son for over 20 years and he did not know his address. The whole lot is a big lie from McCanns and Mitchell and leave Germany alone. H.M. Germany.

I get your point, however bear in mind that Carlos Cruz, the well-known journalist and media personality, could well be innocent. The list of people who believe him to be so is quite impressive...

The defamation of Dr. Goncalo Amaral is an issue that has been discussed ad nauseam but still...

So, are we assuming that abused, emotionally corrupted and illiterate children and/or adolescents do not lie or do not have latent, psychopathic criminal traits in them? That these unfortunate kids (and those who abused them) have more moral standing and character than former presidents of the Portuguese Republic, prime ministers, top criminal commentators, so-called experts etc. See the complete list here (same link as given above).

The BBC report which you quote, follows the trend. The under-dog angle ressonates in us. It reminds us (subconsciously) of our "struggle" against the Big Bear, our parents, later our teachers and more recently our bosses...it is something we instinctively identify with. Think about it...

    8-} The Truth? What's that?

In the Casa Pia case we may have another example of miscarriage of Justice, what I call "ready-to-wear" sentencing.

Small wonder Goncalo Amaral ended up wearing a "mini-skirt" (totally inapropriate!) for giving his opinion on a case about which he knew more than anyone else. An opinion that was of "public interest".

Did I hear someone saying that Amaral was trying to profit from the case? Well, who isn't? Besides isn't he being defamed as well! Whose human dignity is more important? The McCann's because they are British or Goncalo Amaral because he is Portuguese? Sorry, I seem to have gone off on a tangent here...
