Press Release: Cease-and-Desist Letter issued to Gerry and Kate McCann, parents of Missing Madeleine McCann

Press Release

Gerry and Kate McCann, parents of the missing Madeleine McCann, find themselves for the first time at the other end of a potential legal action. Top defense attorney, Anne Bremner, counsel to the Friends of Amanda Knox and the families of Rebecca Zahau and Susan Cox Powell, has issued a cease-and-desist letter (content posted below) on behalf of American criminal profiler Pat Brown whose book, Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann, was removed from sale by Amazon following a claim by the McCanns that the book was defamatory.

In recent years, the McCanns have instructed their solicitors, Carter-Ruck, to send numerous cease-and-desist letters to people who have publicly questioned their possible involvement in their daughter’s disappearance nearly five years ago while on family holiday in Portugal.

Next week, on February 8th, retired solicitor Tony Bennett faces English prison as the McCanns’ fight to shut down his efforts to bring focus to aspects of the missing child case that point to the parents’ possible involvement. Also, the McCanns have sued the detective on their daughter’s case, Dr. Goncalo Amaral, for libel and have had his book, Truth of the Lie, pulled off the worldwide market. The trial is scheduled in Portugal for April. Now, Pat Brown has fought back for the cause of freedom of speech and justice, alleging that the McCanns have interfered with her right to conduct business and have damaged her professional reputation with their successful removal of her book from sale. On Monday, Pat will leave for Portugal to continue her quest for truth and justice in the case of Madeleine McCann.

The Find Madeleine Campaign operated by Gerry and Kate McCann has spent some 2.5 million pounds on the supposed search for their daughter, Madeline, who vanished in Praia da Luz, Portugal while on vacation with the family nearly five years ago and have come up empty handed. Since last May, a 37-man team headed up by Scotland Yard has spent 1.5 million pounds on salaries plus many more pounds following up supposed leads with no sign of success. Altogether, four million pounds has been forked out to locate a missing child with zero results. What, then, does American criminal profiler Pat Brown hope to accomplish with her two week trip to Portugal, beginning next week on February 6, with her small band of assistants and a few hundred euros of her own money?

She could find the truth. She could find Madeleine. She could find nothing but at least she won’t be costing the taxpayers millions or draining the pocketbooks of kindhearted donators chasing useless leads.

Pat Brown will be following up on the theory she purported in her Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann, her eBook which was pulled by Amazon at the request of the British solicitors Carter-Ruck on behalf of Gerry and Kate McCann. Amazon was told the book was defamatory in spite of the fact Ms. Brown clearly stated facts in the case, developed a theory based on those facts, and repeated numerous times that she makes no claim that the McCanns are guilty of any involvement in their daughter’s disappearance (other than leaving three children unattended night after night in the resort apartment). Since Gerry McCann clearly stated during the Leveson hearing, “I strongly believe in freedom of speech” and “I don't have a problem with somebody purporting a theory,” it is difficult to understand why the McCanns wanted the book to be repressed, except that it was selling well and that the theory she presented was being considered credible by a number of readers.

During her trip to Portugal, Pat Brown will study the town of Praia da Luz and environs, reconstruct the crime, and examine possible locations as to where Madeleine might have been taken, dead or alive. If she discovers evidence to support a theory other than the one that was the focus of her book, she will pursue that information. She is looking forward to meeting with Dr. Gonçalo Amaral, the ex-detective on the McCann case. Meanwhile, it is her hope and that of her lawyer, Anne Bremner, that the McCanns rethink their actions regarding the Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann and instruct their solicitors to have Amazon return the book to the market (now available at Smashwords and Barnes & Noble online).

Dear Mr. Tudor,
In July 2011, American criminal profiler, author, and television commentator, Pat Brown, released on June 15, 2011 a self-published book of thirty-pages on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.de, for the price of US2.99. It was titled Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann, sold 850 copies over the next five weeks and garnered 49 nearly all five star reviews on Amazon.uk alone. Then, the book vanished from sale on all three sites. Upon questioning, Pat Brown was informed by Amazon that they had received communications from Carter-Ruck on behalf of their clients Gerald and Kate McCann that the book was defamatory.

Mon 7/25/2011 7:27 PM

Dear Pat,
We have received a notice of defamation from Carter-Ruck Solicitors that says the content of Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann (UPDATED) B0055WYVCQ, contains defamatory statements regarding their clients, Gerry and Kat (sic) McCann.

Because we have no method of determining whether the content supplied to us is defamatory, we have removed the title from sale and will not reinstate it unless we receive confirmation from both parties that this matter has been resolved.
Carter-Ruck can be reached at:

6 St Andrew Street
London EC4A 3AE

Best regards,
Robert F.
http://www.amazon.com

This was quite a surprise to Pat Brown as she had never received any communications from the McCanns nor their solicitors concerning any defamatory material in this book, nor had she ever received any communication concerning any defamatory material in her blogs on the case she has posted online at The Daily Profiler over the last four years. As Ms. Brown is an analyst of evidence, she is careful to not state anything as a fact that is not a fact and to clearly state what is a hypothesis or a theory as opposed to proof. She has publicly and repeated explained to anyone reading her analyses of crime that criminal profiling is a methodology which explores the possible and theoretical scenarios that might be considered as logical based on evidence connected with the crime - forensic, linguistic, or behavioral. Any findings resulting from investigative tools which are not acceptable in certain courts of law (such as cadaver dogs or polygraphs) are noted as suitable for speculation, but not as solid proof of anyone’s guilt or involvement in criminal activities. Criminal profiling itself is an investigative tool and not a finding of guilt as Pat Brown clearly notes in her book.

Due to the speculative, if analytical, nature of Deductive Criminal Profiling, the methodology used by Pat Brown, she was careful to repeat numerous times throughout her publication that she was not accusing the McCanns of being involved in any crime or in the disappearance of their daughter, Madeleine. She was clearly only “purporting a theory” and exercising “free speech,” both manners of communication Gerry McCann stated he strongly supported under oath at the Leveson Inquiry on November 23, 2011 in London:

“I would like to emphasize that I strongly believe in freedom of speech, but where you have people who are repeatedly carrying out inaccuracies and have been shown to do so, then they should be held to account. That is the issue. I don't have a problem with somebody purporting a theory, writing fiction, suggestions, but clearly we've got to a stage where substandard reporting and sources, unnamed, made-up, non-verifiable, are a daily occurrence.” Gerry McCann

Pat Brown also believes in free speech and the right to purport a theory, it would seem she and Gerry McCann are in agreement that any work that purports a theory as opposed to false statements of fact is acceptable under freedom of speech. Pat Brown’s Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann opens up discussion of what happened to the McCann’s daughter, further stimulating interest in the case, and keeping Madeleine in the minds of the public. As the McCanns claim this is what they want, Pat Brown’s book is in accordance with this desire. In fact, it is the McCanns themselves who have clearly encouraged massive interest and speculation on this case. Pat Brown is in no way, therefore, infringing on any wish to keep talk about the case to a minimum.

By speaking and writing out quite often and in such a high profile manner, the McCanns have succeeded in making Madeleine McCann the most well-known missing child in modern history (since the Lindbergh baby in 1932). They have stimulated debate worldwide as to what happened to Madeleine. They have publicly purported their own theories; that someone took Madeleine because they wanted to raise a child, that she is being held captive in a sex ring, and that a pedophile had taken her. They have publicly disclosed many details of the case and repeatedly told their version of what occurred before, during, and after the disappearance of the daughter. They have discussed their emotions, behaviors, and opinions. Pat Brown is carrying on that discussion.

Utmost of importance in the entire matter, is the handling and funding of child abduction cases, the prevailing attitudes toward these crimes, and the future of catching child predators. Because the victims are so young and innocent, missing children are among the most publicized cases in the world. In the last three decades with the increase of the Internet and the 24-hour news cycle, awareness of child sex predators and stranger child abduction has radically increased fears of parents that their child will be taken and murdered. In reality, stranger abduction continues to be exceedingly rare for children of Madeleine’s age. Regardless, the paranoia that is engendered when a small child goes missing is a great stress to the community, the police, and resources. Therefore, it is extremely important that each and every case be properly analyzed and understood so that wrong ideas aren’t promulgated and funding and efforts are wasted investigating such crimes improperly. Each child that goes missing is a terrible tragedy for the parents, siblings, relative, friends, and community. Pat has great empathy for any family of a missing child and, most of all, compassion for the innocent young person who has suffered abuse, terror, sexual assault, and, possibly, an early death at the hands of others.

We are requesting that you respect Pat Brown’s right to free speech and to purport a theory as Gerry McCann has stated is not a problem for him. We request that the claim of libel be retracted for the Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann and the book permitted to be returned for sale at Amazon.

Respectfully,
Anne M. Bremner

  1. I'm very sceptical about the real purposes of that trip to Portugal. Amaral and PJ explained long ago that any private investigation in portuguese soil is illegal and could be considered a crime. Then, what is that lady going to do in Portugal? a private or a official investigation, or none? If is a private, is she going to do something illegal and something the Mccann's use to do and were criticised by Amaral and PJ? Doing a crime? If is official, must be under the PJ world and if that is the case, I don't understand all the noise and publicity coming from Pat side. First, her flight ticket and accommodation must be payed by PJ and second, the all process must be done in a quite and incognito way. I really look at that with many ????? and feel so sorry for Amaral, if as I suspect, that trip becomes nothing then another step the Mccann's can use to promote their business of destroying and dismissing everything PJ had achieved.
3 things I don't like on that story:

    a) many peple wrote books about the Mccann's and the all saga, I believe many causing more damage to the Mccann's because were published and sold in Portugal, why they only tried to ban 2 ( forget Bennet leaflets). I understand why they tried to ban Amaral book, but I don't understand the interest on that one. The Mccann's never drive a car that leads to nowhere or to a route that is troubling them. There is something here.

    b) I don't like the excuse Pat gave for not changing her flight when Mccann V Amaral trial was persponed. Too expensive to change a ticket, I thing is an excuse that should be not used at that level of the case.

    c) I don't like the way Pat lawyer wrote the letters. It is no YES and no NO. Something that can fall both ways and that is a very strange strategy to defend a complaint. The letters look like invitations showing Pat is there, and if they want, her services could be used ( not to find Madeleine I'm sure, because for that, only PJ with the case reopenned could do it). She is trying to attract the Mccann's and GA, to see who bites the cake first.

Sorry to be so sceptical, but at the moment, that is my feeling. Was it not Pat who loves to work with Clairvoyants? Who else loves such characters? Not PJ, I believe. They waste a lot of money following sights and letters delivered by such people.

  3. Mrs Fiona Payne in her statement to the British Police said Robert Murat was outside 5A that night "I know it was him as he came up to me and shook me by the hand and said I am Robert Murat".

    No mistakes, no doubts.

As the statement was given under caution this is perjury. Scotland Yard need to ask her why did she do that and many pieces will fall into place. Kate in her book says it was a genuine mistake, please explain how.

This is clear evidence of deliberate dishonesty and deceit to divert attention and resources from the search for Madeleine and to pervert the course of justice.

Pat Brown may like to investigate this and the similarity and appearance between David Payne and Robert Murat.

  5. The McCanns have taken on another force to be reckoned with, and Pat Brown is not going to step aside and let them have their way, no matter how much money (other people's of course) they throw at the matter, or any efforts to vilify or ridicule her, (even the wonderful sniffer dogs were not given a pass).

Freedom of speech, speculation based on the circumstances and facts of the case, and opinions as to what may have happened to Madeleine is something the McCanns cannot tolerate if it opposes their 'abduction' fairy story, and interfere with the money rolling into their Fund.

They should realise by now that members of the public who want to learn about what may have happened to Madeleine will not go along with their dictatorial demands, and the McCanns are simply drawing attention to something they are trying to divert it from.

There is nothing more interesting to most people than something they have been 'banned' from reading.

Until the McCanns can PROVE their 'abduction fairy story' is true they should stop the harassment of those wishing to exercise their freedom of speech by discussing the possibility of other scenarios based on what is already officially in the public domain.

  6. Wow! Joana for a moment I thought you had missed the scoop! You have been very busy in other fronts, we know.

I am following Pat Brown on Facebook. That is where she is keeping us updated about her trip to Portugal.

Also elsewhere in her blog she gives her reasons. I will quote it here in full if I may. Quote/unquote:

WHAT I HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH IN PORTUGAL
Sunday, February 5, 2012 (Washington DC)

Many of you are wondering what I expect to accomplish in Portugal for the two week period I will be in the country.

Some have scoffed on Twitter that I am on a fool's errand or some egotistical fantasy trip, that I think I am going to pop over to Praia da Luz and solve the McCann case in a snap. Hardly.

I am not that unrealistic nor am I so blind to reality and my abilities that I think I am going to do any such thing. What I am trying to do is learn a bit more.

Since my book, Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann did earn some dividends (although not much since it was pulled from Amazon under threat of Carter-Ruck and the McCanns) and I stated I would put fifty percent of the earnings toward searching for Madeleine, I am doing that with the money.

I am approaching this case as I do others I have profiled. I plan to survey the area and then reanalyze the crime based on what I learn. Then, I plan to search in locations I believe Maddie may be.

I can accomplish the first part of the plan within ten days.

The second part is unlikely to be fully accomplished and may require me to return to Portugal if I think another search has merit. I also may run into the "unknown factor" while I am in Praia da Luz. I may come across new information that will add to what is publicly known of the case or something that could change my profile.

Although my top theory is that the evidence points to the McCanns involvement, the next most likely theory is that a local pedophile grabbed Madeleine and walked off with her to his lair. I do not at all believe Madeleine's disappearance had anything to do with a sex ring or someone who wanted a child. I do not believe Madeleine was taken away alive in a car. I believe Madeleine is not alive, whether the McCanns are involved or not.

    (cont.)

  7. PAT BROWN: WHAT I HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH IN PORTUGAL (continued)

Could I change this view? Sure. If I get to Praia da Luz, start analyzing the layout of the area and, suddenly, say, "Well, hell, if I had known that...." I don't expect this will happen but you never know. Being at the crime location is extraordinarily valuable when analyzing any case and this can change everything. If I do a one-eighty, I will not shirk my duty to disclose this and I will revise my profile as necessary.

What I won't be doing in Praia da Luz is going around questioning people. I am not a private detective and I don't have the right to do so in Portugal anyway. I won't refuse to talk to people but I am not knocking on doors and demanding people answer my questions. I will be analyzing and reconstructing the crime by way of the locations I can publicly access or have permission.

I will do some experiments as to how long it takes to walk from A to B, check to see how easily something could be accomplished or how easily one can be seen carrying a child in certain places, and where a person could stash a body or not.

I will be searching for Madeleine in locations I believe have some merit. I am not going to discuss on this blog exactly where and how. I will tell you that when I get back.

Do I expect to find Maddie or the big clue that will lead me to her? The odds are not great that I will leave Portugal having accomplished that. I hope to increase my knowledge of what exactly happened to Madeleine. And, if I am really, really lucky, maybe I will unearth something of great value.

I am looking forward to my two weeks in Portugal. I am very curious to see what I will learn. I will try to blog daily on what I am doing and finding out (that I can release) and I hope all goes well. If, when my two weeks is up, I feel the trip was productive and I could use more time in Portugal, I will make a second trip to Praia da Luz in the coming months and continue my work.

    Criminal Profiler Pat Brown

  8. AND WHERE DOES THE MONEY TO PAY DAMAGES TO PAT BROWN, COMES FROM?

Anon2: "Mrs Fiona Payne in her statement to the British Police said Robert Murat was outside 5A that night "I know it was him as he came up to me and shook me by the hand and said I am Robert Murat".

    http://joana-morais.blogspot.com/2009/05/mccann-case-fiona-elaine-payne-rogatory_27.html

Kate says it was a mistake in order "to scratch Fiona's back" I suppose. Remember the two monkeys' story "you scratch my back I will scratch yours?"

But you are right, it is called "corrupting the course of justice" or words to that effect.

They should have put her in the dock in the first place, but there you are. Some people are above the Law.

Now Scotland Yard is not going to be as "rude" as to ask Dr. Kate McCann that! Many people suspect they were told by Cameron "to wear white velvet gloves" when sieving through the PJ Official files and other secondary material - mostly paid for the McCanns' stuff.

"DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING THAT MIGHT COMPROMISE THE COUPLE'!" - one can almost hear the "Camaroon" saying, capital letters and no smiles.

By the way, there is speculation Richard Branson is funding the whitewash ("review")

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/9061383/Private-firms-give-UK-police-forces-millions-of-pounds-to-investigate-crimes.html

I wouldn't be surprised but, of course, this is a wild inference. True, someone should look into such allegations but...who? :c

Finally, I don't know where the money to pay damages to Pat Brown will come from should it come to that? Any ideas?

Stupid question, really! - such "eventuality" is already covered in "The Fund's" statutes & amendments.

    http://joana-morais.blogspot.com/2012/01/special-resolution-amendments-to.html

:h Let us hope the European Court of Human Rights will eventually prevent rich people and their multi-million legal teams using the courts to further their own agendas.

  12. If the McCanns had needed to conceal the body of Madeleine there would be no better place than back in Rothley. By doing that, they would be taking their dearly loved child back home (as surely most people would want to if they had a loved one die in a foreign land), and not leave her behind, plus, by staying in Portugal themselves for as long as possible after the body had been removed, and supposedly to carry on with their search for the child, they would distract attention from Rothley, because everybody would be looking at them, not Rothley. Or would be running around in circles chasing up dreams, visions, and bogus sightings all over the world.

If anybody had the means to get the child back to the UK under the very noses of the authorities, the McCanns would have with the vast amount of money and means at their disposal, even to having access to private planes, and being as everybody was searching for an abducted living Madeleine at the beginning, and not a dead child being secreted back into the UK, nobody would have been on the alert.

That is not to discount any searching in PDL, but Rothley must not be overlooked, and the dogs should have been taken there when there was the opportunity, just as they were taken to the homes of Murat and his family. How did the McCanns manage to avoid that when they were arguidos at the time, just as Murat was, and Gerry McCann had been back and forth between the two countries several times?

All the very best to Pat Brown in her quest for more information in PDL. Here's hoping she discovers much.

Must say I wholeheartedly agree with you. Madeleine's remains are in Rothley. Gerry went back to fetch a pillowcase for DNA ! I ask you, did the child not live in apartment 5A for a week. There should have been loads of DNA material.

Then I think Kate and Gerry went back because they were "godparents" to some family's child. God forbid the poor godchild.

She is definitely there, without a doubt. At first I could not understand why they stayed so long in Portugal, but you stated the obvious.

  19. To @13 «Anyone who thinks there is money to be made by me in the case of missing Madeleine McCann has a poor grasp of reality. Everyone who ever touches this case in a search for the truth is risking their livelihoods and careers. I have profiled and commented on this case since early on, so I don't have a recent interest. Speaking up on this case has not done me any favors; but I have always refused to keep quiet just because it was safer.

I have never in my life been interested in becoming rich. I am satisfied with a roof over my head, my family, good friends, and pets that amuse me. I like traveling but I don't need to be wealthy to do it. I tend to prefer staying with friends or in youth hostels, taking local transportation and eating street food; I like to visit the culture, not a fancy hotel chain and hang with tourists. My life is my work and my work is changing profiling methodology, getting killers behind bars, saving people from becoming victims of psychopaths (especially children), and justice for victims of violent crime (most especially children).

I am not expecting an exorbitant amount of taxpayer money to fund questionable reviews and I am not begging money off of naive and kindhearted people to fund worthless PIs to track down worthless leads.

Whether I can do any good or not in Portugal, I cannot say. I am simply going to try and it is not going to cost anyone money but me.» Pat Brown in http://jillhavern.forumotion.net/t4293p10-criminal-profiler-pat-brown-will-be-heading-to-portugal-on-february-6th

Further to your comment regarding the Tapas 7 re-interview, the articles in the Express and Daily Mail are both dubious and unsourced. Do you really believe that NSY are stupid or lack an efficient investigation methodology? "Oh yeah, let's tell the Tapas 7 via the media that we're going to question them so they can set up their inconsistent statements straight". Right. This bit should tell you where the story is coming from «A Yard spokesman declined to say who would be interviewed and when. “We are not going into that level of details,” he said. “We are not at the stage of speaking to individuals yet. We are laying the groundwork.”

The McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said they and their friends would do everything to assist attempts to discover what happened to Madeleine.» http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/300185/Tapas-7-will-help-Madeleine-McCann-detectives

  20. IS SCOTLAND YARD REALLY ABOUT TO INTERVIEW THE TAPAS SEVEN? (Part I)

Anon 13 wrote: "More interesting is the fact - not picked up on here yet - that Scotland yard are to re-interview the Tapas 7"

Some people here DID pick up on that. Personally I had read Pat Brown's "profiler" comments on the news article you referred to (Sunday Express) and I thought she was right on target.

If Joana's doesn't mind, I shall quote her here for your benefit. Here it goes:

"Is Scotland Yard really about to Interview the Tapas 7? Very fishy, if you ask me. I find this whole story bogus as hell.

    1. What timing! Less than 48 hours after the news goes out that I have issued a cease-and-desist letter to Gerry and Kate and 24 hours before I leave for Portugal, suddenly big breaking news in the Madeleine McCann case! The headline reads: Tapas 7 Will Help Madeleine McCann Detectives!

I know many think that since the news organizations haven't exactly rushed to print a story about what I am doing, there is no need for diversion. This may be true, but the timing is so coincidental, I think Clarence Mitchell may be attempting to make sure the story doesn't gain any momentum, to quickly turn heads away and say, see, something is happening over at Scotland Yard; they are really making progress and the Tapas 7 are cooperating.

    2. Of course, let's say that isn't true. That Clarence Mitchell doesn't really want anyone even pointing at the Tapas 7 because, after all, what do they even know what would be helpful if the McCanns are innocent? If Scotland Yard wants to interview them, hmm, that can't be good for the McCanns, can it?

    3. So okay, let's suppose this has zip to do with me and Scotland Yard is planning to interview the Tapas 7. So they warn them? What? They want to give them time to get their stories down pat and perfect? What police department warns co-conspirators (if they are) that they are gearing up to interrogate them?

    4. Why aren't the McCanns being interviewed?

    5. Why would you spend millions of pounds and nine months going over the minutia of every tip before doing a crime scene analysis and a reconstruction and bringing in the main players for interviews?

Why wouldn't you have required in the beginning that the McCanns and the Tapas 7 to do be interviewed, polygraphed, and to participate in a reconstruction if the McCanns want the review?

  21. IS SCOTLAND YARD REALLY ABOUT TO INTERVIEW THE TAPAS SEVEN? (part II)

    6. Which brings me to this: Either this is all smoke-and-mirrors and a distraction or Scotland Yard took nine months and a shitload of taxpayer money to grow a brain and conduct a homicide investigation as even the smallest police department would, in a proper investigative manner starting at Square One.

    7. But, then, let's go back and really reread the article. You will find the only time Scotland Yard says anything is with this statement

“We are not going into that level of details,” he said. “We are not at the stage of speaking to individuals yet. We are laying the groundwork.”

Which means they have made no plans to interview anyone at this point in time and have told no one they would.

    Reread what was really said:

The friends of Kate and Gerry McCann, who accompanied them on their holiday to Portugal almost five years ago, are expecting interview requests as soon as officers feel they could assist the investigation.
After nine months of information gathering, officers are checking statements from key witnesses.

In other words, the article simply says the officers are checking statements (well, duh, they have read them in the police reports so this is merely stating the obvious) and the friends expect they might be interviewed if the officers feel they could be helpful. This is a story from their point of view, not Scotland Yard's.

    8. The news story is a non-news story. It is pure spin and, in my opinion, nothing but a distraction so the cease-and-desist order to the McCanns and my trip to Portugal will be continue to be ignored by the media.

  22. If Madeleine was ever buried on the beach, I hope the PJ know where the place was and that they followed the exhumation and immediately after they took all the sand out of the hole and tested it in a laboratory. I'm sure that there must be hair of the persons who digged the hole, hair from their hands, head, arms, specially from men who are more hairy than women. I think Madeleine could have been buried in the tennis bag but the sand around the bag could smell human cadaver. We don't know if the dogs were brought to some other places,a laboratory, to test more things. Maybe this is the something that is on the files that will not please the McCanns.

In Holland we had a murder of a 15 years old girl, a mystery. She was not raped but the police found a little genital hair of a man on haar cloth.
He was not known by the police but years later they found him and he confessesd his crime.

Which one of you can tell me if there is a staircase going down to the beach, I mean, at the end of the street near the church. How do people reach the beach and the sea, from that street?

  23. :e OOPS! THERE WERE NO SCOOPS!

When I read here that "On Monday, Pat will leave for Portugal to continue her quest for truth and justice in the case of Madeleine McCann." I went on an e-mail posting frenzy, informing most British and Portuguese newspapers and news agencies I could think of...

    Mirror;Sun;Express;Evening Standard;Metro;Guardian; Times;Independent;BBC;LBC;ITV, even the Liverpool Echo! I e-mailed Reuters;The Press Association;France Press, you name it.

I did the same for Portuguese press/radio/media.

Correio da Manha; Diario de Noticias; Jornal de Noticias; Publico; Sol; Expresso, TSF, RR, Antena1,you name it! - not to mention Lusa and other news agencies...

    But guess what?
Oops! There were no scoops! Nothing happened.

I mean the McCanns' bring Tony Bennett or Gonçalo Amaral to court and all the media is alight with red, yellow, green lights flashing...

A top American crime profiler threatens to sue the McCanns and guess what? Everyone heads under the table or dive their noses deep in the porridge bowl...

It all makes me wonder how far the tentacles of the British government (Cameron)/Clarence Mitchell/Burson-Marsteller/Lift Consulting extend?

    Conspiracy theory my coccyx!

Okay, may be you're right; perhaps many got the message and are now just waiting for Pat Brown to land her UFO in Praia da Luz and for things starting to happen. Fine.

Well I sincerely hope so, otherwise I will be very worried. I mean if "they" start to censorship and control the Internet to the extent they manipulate mainstream media, where does that leaves us, plebeians?

Where does that leave the fundamental freedom of speech - or democracy for that matter?

Are we heading to a new kind of demo-demagogy, nano implants and all? Some kind of Matrix?

    Beam me up!!!

  24. Madeleine's body in Rothley? How do you imagine they managed it? A privete plane always attrackt the attention and of course all of the airports have police and costumers. It is not a James Bond film. Don't you believe Madeleine is still in Praia da Luz, or Luz? I do. She is somewhere out there. They were suspects, the whole world knew it, and travelling around with a smelling bag? Not at all. you are naieve.Do you think the mCCanns have still power? They lost it.

  25. @ "So why have the McCanns PI's been allowed to go to Portugal and search? if its a crime why didnt the PJ stop them??"

:n your comment is spot on.

  26. Perhaps the Express no-news about Tapas 7 has to do with Tony Bennett, hoping that the McCanns realise that there are at least 7 witnesses of Madeleine's death. That one of them can come forward at any moment, saving Bennett. The trial against him is about to begin.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yes Madeleine could be in Rothley. If Pj suspected she still in Portugal, all suspecting places will be combed. To move her to Rothley or to another UK property, they don't need a plane. By road. The borders were open and Jim Gamble was there to help Gerry in everything he needs.
What was the purpose of the big truck that drives all the way to PDL, to deliver a big Madeleine outdoor, to which the McCann's gave little attention. Strange, for a couple, who never misses a spotlight and an excuse to show up and have some publicity. When asked about the outdoor, they said it was a gift, but some bloggers disclosed the truth saying it was all arranged by the Mmcann's relative who was one of the Fund directors. He contracted the drivers and the truck company was not having her economy very health to do such offers. But the Fund was very health at the time.
And what was the purpose of M3? now, we know they payed MAC to frame GA on the Cipriano case. What else they payed? While the Mccann's were entertaining the public and the police with fake sights, plenty interviews and all type of misinformation, other guys, behind scenes, could have dealing with body. The money payed everything. That's why, I believe after the reconstruction, what helps the police to solve the case, is tracking down the money from the Fund. Where that money went. If there is no records of where the money went, one more prove against the Mccann's. A Fund settled like this one, having at the base, public donations and having a specific objective, needs to be completely transparent with all the transfers totally supported by signed papers and legal bank accounts.

  28. I made the first comment where I highlight the reasons why I'm very sceptical. Pat Brown, answer already on her blog, the doubts some people like me, highlighted in many places. Thanks for her words.
I hope, I change my mind at the end of her trip, but at moment I still don't understand why she didn't do her search incognito, with PJ support. Will be much more profitable, more accurate and legal. Like that, she could interview people with interest and bring her experience to what the police already achieved.
We know already what she wants to test- the timeline, the crime scene and the checking on the Tapas kids. Paulo Sargento have done an animated reconstruction where he proves, the Tapas 9 lied, Jane tanner lied and the street, under the Tapas 9 descriptions, was so busy, that the abductor had less then 5 minutes to enter the flat, snatch the girl and evaporate. IMPOSSIBLE!!! then, what is the use of testing what was already tested? Just one more voice to confirm the suspicions of PJ? Is it to reinforce the police point of view?
I hope, a strong witness decide to contact Pat Brown and tell the Truth and she (Pat) deliver that information ONLY TO PJ. Delivering it to another source will be not acceptable.

  29. Anon @ 23

The UK media are not going to report anything about a woman - with a few hundred dollars - travelling all the way from the USA to Portugal in search of Madeleine McCann or clues as to what happened to the little kid. That would cause the public to question why her own parents, her extended family and the Tapas 7 have never spent so much as a Sunday afternoon searching, even though they received millions in donations to do just that.
None of them would even return to Portugal for the PJ reconstruction in 2008. They gave various implausible excuses, ranging from 'work commitments' to 'the PJ were trying to fit them up'. And of course, despite a 3 year old vanishing and possibly horrifically injured, abused or dead, the good doctors said they couldn't see the point of a reconstruction so long after the event (that's very odd indeed given they thought it of value to do their own so-called recon for TV in 2009).

  31. THE MYSTERIOUS CASE OF THE MISSING HOLDALL

Anon 24: "Madeleine's body in Rothley? How do you imagine they managed it?"

In a holdall! It has been done before!

Dr. G. McCann is on record as having travelled to Britain on the 21st of May 2007, I think. See BBC news extract below.

"Madeleine's father returns to UK BBC News

Last Updated: Monday, 21 May 2007, 11:12 GMT 12:12 UK

"The father of missing Madeleine McCann has flown back to the UK from Portugal to meet organisers of the campaign to find his daughter, etc."

Now link this trip with the famous missing blue holdall that first appears in the PJ official photos of Apartment 5A and then goes missing.

    http://www.mccannfiles.com/id155.html
Scroll down the page until you see the photo of what seems like a blue holdall. Who said it never existed?

See what kind of inferences you might come up with if you were a Scotland Yard, or even better, a PJ detective.

    http://truthofthelie.com/2007/12/hunt-for-gerrys-missing-tennis-bag-which-could-have-been-used-to-carry-madeleine-away/

Refer also to the rogatory interviews (PJ Files) where, say David Payne is asked about it and his rather, how to put it? "hesitant" answers.

    http://www.mccannfiles.com/id236.html

You could even carry a grown-up man in a large holdall if it came to that. Whether the size and appearance would go undetected by Customs, that is a different matter.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/sep/01/mi6-officer-body-sports-holdall

I cannot find the news item right now but a dead child (another) has been carried out on a flight undetected.

OK, it unlikely Dr. G. McCann did that (God forbid), still it remains a logical possibility.

The fact remains the bag is still missing, which means it could have been used to carry Madeleine to her destination - wherever that is, by whoever that was (...)
Now because of the cadaver dog's findings I have a strong idea of who that might have been but I shall keep my opinion to myself :a

    Hope this helps.

  32. :a THERE YOU GO AGAIN

Anon 27 "at moment I still don't understand why she didn't do her search incognito, with PJ support. Will be much more profitable, more accurate and legal."

Because of the psychological advantages of doing so!

It is not like she is going to be surrounded by paparazzi! That wouldn't happen not even with the McCanns'.

Furthermore, as it happens, there is a Clarence Mitchell induced media blackout both on her counter-threat to Carter-*uck and her trip.

May be Pat wants everyone to know she is on the side of the PJ, of Amaral and that alone will gain her friends AND inside information no one has. Not even Scotland Yard or the McCanns!

The other thing is she is a criminal profiler not a detective. The two are not the same. She operates on a much more intuitive level. Think about it.

Anyway, what kind of experts are we to tell her what to do and how she should do it?

Relax and let the McCanns' tense :p

  33. An excellent interview of reporter Mark Cagney (Ireland) and I have it from Regretsansramblings(May the 13th 2011).
At the end of that interview (end) we can see Kate really crying and for very short moment we can see her golden ring, with rubies(ruby).
According to myself she didn"t have it before. Wasn't the fund money exclusively to find Madeleine? She wears the same ring in Portugal, when she introduced her book.I think that ring comes from the fund, before.
They couldn't even pay the mortage in 2007, Kate stopped working, Gerry stayed in the most expensive hotel in Portugal(mentality of people who have been poor in the past) and Kate with that expensive ring.

At the beginning of the second part of the interview, Mark Cagney ask that being seen as suspects could be the worst thing they had READ about themselves in this case(or maybe Gerry had read about himself. Cagney uses the word"you" and we can't see whom he is looking at, at that moment). And Cagney continues:

    "But WAS it?"

    Obviously reffering to the Gaspars.

  35. ROBERT MURAT, THE "EGG MAN"? I DON'T THINK PAT BROWN EVER BELIEVED THAT...

Others did and went as far as pointing a finger at him saying: "There! The "egg man" I saw!" or words to that effect.

Who pointed a finger at him?

Jane Tanner - presently awaiting trial for false allegations.

    http://joana-morais.blogspot.com/2010/02/robert-murat-criminal-complaint-against.html

Others who were convinced Murat "did it", was the wife of that doctor the Gaspars' complained to the police about - something to do with paedophile descriptions or allusions...what's her name? Payne, Fionna Payne. And of course, Rachael Oldfield and her spouse, all close friends of you-know-who.

Interesting to note that from so many other people on the scene at the time, only these three or four are on record (PJ files) as pointing their index finger at Murat - a thought-provoking coincidence, one must admit.

Jane Tanner, herself, goes as far as positively identifying Robert Murat as the abductor!

She denies it now, but please remember people have the right to change their minds or even change and contradict statements they have made to the police
    - IF they have the British government and Clarence Mitchell behind them AND what's wrong with a bit of "padrinhato" Salazar's style?

    Recapping...

"On 13 May, Tanner was taken by a Leicestershire Police Officer, Bob Small, into a police van with darkened windows, from where she could see passers-by. Amongst those who walked by whilst she was hidden with police officers in the van was Robert Murat. She apparently instantly identified Murat as the probable abductor she had seen a few nights previously. Crucially, Robert Murat has poor eyesight and wears glasses all the time. However, when Tanner was asked to give a description of the abductor she claimed to have seen, she did not mention his wearing glasses."

    http://gazetadigitalmadeleinecase.blogspot.com/2009/04/niggle-and-strange-tale-of-robert-murat.html

Anyway, watch this VIDEO of PAT BROWN and noticed her expression at the end: "You may be looking in the wrong way..." I think she already suspected Robert Murat was being framed, but I make no allegations.

:d For allegations you need to ask the dogs!

This means that Maddie herself touched her own bedroom door at least a couple of times.Kate searched for her 3 times in the whole apartment which also means she admitted Maddie could have walked around and even hid herself in a closet, where Kate searched too.
The door story is not true.
