Clarence Mitchell/McCanns: The Gloves are off! Are they affirming that the Portuguese Police is Corrupted??

Is Clarence and the McCanns (he is their spokesman) affirming that the Portuguese Police is Corrupted? Yes they are!! Even worst they attacked directly Paulo Rebelo: Mitchell had earlier claimed that it seemed to be no coincidence the leak had occurred while Rebelo was in the UK interviewing witnesses in the case. He said: 'It is beyond curious this leak has occurred while Rebelo is in the UK.' This wasn't the first time they attacked the Portuguese Judiciary Police credibility spreading lies and smears, and it wasn't the first time they have tried to undermine the Police's work, but I do Hope that this is their Last Spin.

Philomena McCann (Madelines Aunt) Speaks On This Morning

In light of the shocking revelations that Kate McCann, mother of missing child Madeline McCann had been named as a suspect in the case, Madeline’s aunt yesterday spoke to Phillip Schofield and Ruth on yesterdays This Morning show on ITV1.

Ruth: “Only a week or so ago, you were in here talking to us and so much has happened in such a short space of time. I know that you’ve spoken to Kate this morning, 11 hours she was at the station answering questions, how is she this morning?”

Philomena: “She’s completely outraged, just like the rest of the family. It’s inconceivable what’s happening to them out there. There they are, they’re victims of this horrendous crime and now they’re trying to sully their name in this disgusting manner with this smear campaign. It’s just unbelievable.”

Ruth: “I know that during the news reports we’ve been seeing in the last couple of days it has been stressed that they are being questioned as witnesses not suspects. Is that still the case Philomena?”

Philomena: “Not that I am aware of, no. As far as I know they’ve changed their status and they are suspects. And I do know that some of the things that Kate has been asked are just incomprehensible. It’s just the most shocking news ever.”

Phillip: “We’re confused because we’ve been waiting all week, in fact for longer then that, for this piece of forensic evidence which was supposed to throw the case wide open and certainly shed some light on the areas we haven’t understood in the past. This is not what we were expecting, certainly not what you were expecting. Has there been anything mentioned to you about this forensic evidence we were supposed to be hearing about?”

Philomena: “Yes, there has been things mentioned, it’s about body fluids being on the family’s clothes. I’m not sure exactly, I don’t know in-depth details. Some of it seems to me more then a little ludicrous. Of course there would be Madeline’s fluids on their clothes, they pick her up. She’s a little girl who get’s hugged and lifted. How does that change their status? As far as I can see all they’re trying to do is fit Kate and Gerry up now because they haven’t found this perpetrator, who’s wandering about completely free to act as he pleases and possibly do that again. But at this time Kate and Gerry’s names are just being totally sullied.

Phillip: “Does this mean that they are now formal suspects? Am I correct in saying they have moved up to this ‘arguido’ status?”

Philomena: “Yes that’s true”

Phillip: “Does that offer them any other protection that they didn’t have before?”

Philomena: “The only protection it offers is that they’re allowed to take legal representation in with then when they’re being questioned by the police and the other thing that it does is that allows them not to answer questions in case they incriminate themselves. But that’s not what Kate and Gerry want to do. The police are trying to suggest that Kate has in some way accidentally killed Madeline. How ludicrous is that when one of their friends actually saw Madeline being carried up the street but some unknown assailant?

Ruth: “How much was Kate actually allowed to tell you? What kind of things did they ask her that’s made her now feel that they think she is a suspect in this?”

Philomena: “They were saying ‘Tell us what you did with her?” Kate’s like ‘You must be insane to think we’d put ourselves through this’. It’s just nonsense.”

Phillip: “The relationship between your family and the police, up until now, has appeared to be very good. They’re been frustration and certainly a discussion that mistakes have been made but that aside you do seem to have had a good relationship with the police.”

Philomena: “My brother’s telling me, do not antagonise these people. The enquiry is in their hands, we have to work with these people, they are our best hope. You have to be very political with what you say about them buy hey the gloves are off, these people are imbeciles.

Ruth: “Is it right that Gerry is being questioned separately today?”

Philomena: “He’s going in at 2pm today. But he’s not the main suspect, for some unknown reason there’s something about a sniffer dog sniffing Kate. Suddenly a dog can talk and says she smelled a death. How can that be when a British sniffer dog came out months after Madeline’s case. They’re doctors, if there’s a smell of death on them could that possibly be a patient?

Philomena: “You can imagine how low they feel about they with this, and yet there’s this adrenaline pumping through them because at the end of the day all the time they’re treating Kate and Gerry as suspects, the perpetrator is out there laughing that they’ve got away with this.”

Ruth: “How much do you think these recent developments will affect your campaign now?”

Philomena: “I think with out a doubt they’ll be a large number of people who think mud sticks. Whatever they say this has been covered by every news channel. It’s all those adages, ‘there’s no smoke without fire’. Well it depends where that smoke’s coming from and I think that smoke is just a smokescreen.”

Phillip: “Philomena, we’ll leave it there for the moment, all of us with our mouths wide open with shock and maybe we could speak to you again on Monday after the weekend and you could give us another update.”

Philomena: “Can I just tell the whole audience out there. This is a complete fabrication. Gerry and Kate have got nothing to with the disappearance of their daughter. It has been them pushing this investigation from day one. It is just not true.”

Kate and Gerry McCann have launched a counter-attack against Portuguese police as the row over leaked statements about their daughter's disappearance escalated into a war of words.

Police were warned by the couple's official spokesman that the "gloves are off" after what he claimed was a "cack-handed" smear campaign timed to disrupt a new appeal by the couple in Brussels.

The McCanns are said to be furious about the release of their statements yesterday, which revealed for the first time that Madeleine had been left sobbing for her mother the night before she vanished.

And today, their spokesman Clarence Mitchell signalled a distinct change in tactics for the couple by lashing out at police and calling on the Portuguese government to stop any leaks to the press once and for all.

Mr Mitchell told Sky News: "This is a blatant and timed attempt against Kate and Gerry to try to deflect attention in the headlines from the success they had at the European Parliament... to try to divert attention onto negative headlines questioning their suitability as parents.

"It is shameless, brazen and very cack-handed and the Portuguese government must now get as grip on whatever element it is in the Portuguese police that is responsible for these leaks and smears.

"They have continued since last summer and when the officer in charge of the inquiry, the man brought in to sort it out, is visiting here, off they go again.

"Its the same old game. We know what they're up to, it is ridiculous and must stop."

He added: "Someone in the police does not want Kate and Gerry to widen the agenda for whatever reason. It is wrong, it is illegal and the Portuguese government needs to stop this from happening in the future."

Mr Mitchell spoke out as chief investigator Paulo Rebelo was returning to the Algarve for a crunch meeting with the private prosecutor who holds the future of the McCanns in his hands.

Mr Rebelo was due to give Portimao public prosecutor Jose Magalhaes e Menezes a detailed run-down of his three-day trip to Britain to sit in on fresh interviews with the couple's holiday friends.

The meeting is expected to be crucial in determining whether Madeleine's parents remain official police suspects.

An investigating judge is expected to life a secrecy order on the case on May 15 unless prosecutors ask for a three-month extension.

The McCanns could then demand they are either charged or cleared.

Mr Mitchell had earlier claimed that it seemed to be no coincidence the leak had occurred while Rebelo was in the UK interviewing witnesses in the case.

He said: "It is beyond curious this leak has occurred while Rebelo is in the UK.

"It is outrageous and illegal and Portuguese government needs to look at what elements in its own police force are capable of. We are not happy and the gloves are off."

The statements, which have been confirmed as genuine, revealed how Kate and Gerry McCann had left their daughter, then three, and twins Sean and Amelie, two, crying in their bedroom and did not respond to their tears.

Mrs McCann told detectives that Madeleine had scolded her the next morning - the last they were to spend together.

It also emerged that Mr McCann said Cuddle Cat, his daughter's favourite toy, was "almost in the same place" as where he had last seen it.

The couple had previously said that it was found high on a ledge, at adult height, which is how they were so certain that Madeleine had been abducted. (LOOK at the contradictory statements on the pictures to the left)

Mrs McCann told police: "While we were having breakfast, Madeleine said, 'Mummy, why didn't you come when we were crying last night?'

"Gerry and I spoke for a couple of minutes and agreed to keep a closer watch over the children."

But, just hours later, the McCanns left the three alone in their unlocked holiday apartment to have dinner with friends.

They have faced furious criticism over the decision, and have spoken of their guilt that an abductor could have watched them leave and then snatched Madeleine.

Mr Mitchell said today that they had listened to Madeleine and had a serious discussion about it but insisted the toddler had been laughing and happy.

"They wanted to question her about it. She just walked off, laughing and happy. She was a child so she [Kate] dropped it," he said.

"They decided to check more thoroughly the next night and that is what they did."

Mr and Mrs McCann had told police about the incident because they feared someone could have been in the room the night before and run off when Madeleine began crying, he added.

The row yesterday overshadowed their visit to the European Parliament, where they made an impassioned appeal for a Europe-wide alert system for abducted children.

A friend of the couple said they were "angry and disappointed" about the leak.

He said: "The minute that you talk about Madeleine crying is the minute that the vultures will move in and this is why this has been leaked.

"It is a blatantly cynical attempt to smear them."

Portuguese police have so far refused to comment about the leaked statements.

But detectives have been infuriated by the couple's political influence and by Gordon Brown's interest in the case.

There has also been criticism of the McCanns' decision to spearhead a campaign while they remain official suspects in the 11-month investigation.

The police statement from Mrs McCann, 40, said she and her husband spoke on the night of May 3, before they went out for dinner, and said what a wonderful holiday they had enjoyed.

Just two hours later, their lives were to be shattered when she returned to the apartment and discovered Madeleine's bed was empty.

In her statement she said she screamed: "Maddie isn't there. Someone's taken her."

In Mr McCann's police statement he said: "I thought it couldn't be and ran towards the apartment along the same route as always. I looked everywhere."

Madeleine has not been seen since that night, despite scores of unconfirmed sightings.

The interview transcript was obtained by Spanish television journalist Nacho Abad, who claimed he could not reveal his source.

But Clarence Mitchell, spokesman for the McCanns, said the statement would have come from within the Portuguese police and launched a blistering attack on their attempts to "smear" the McCanns.

"It is a shameless, brazen and very cack-handed," he told Sky News.

"The Portuguese government must now get a grip on whatever element it is within the Portuguese police that is responsible for these leaks and smears."

"They have continued since last summer and when the officer in charge of the inquiry, the man brought in to sort it out, is visiting here, off they go again.

"We know what they're up to, it is ridiculous and must stop," he said.

Mr Mitchell added that the release of the confidential police documents was a "blatant and timed smear campaign", designed to coincide with the McCanns' efforts to promote a child alert system in Brussels.

But journalist Nacho Abad denied that he had been party to any deliberate timing over the release of the statements, telling Sky News: "I made them public when I got them."

Is Clarence Mitchell saying that Madeleine McCann was lying?!

Mr Mitchell described Madeleine's words as a "short aside".

He said: "Madeleine came out and said, 'Why didn't you come to me and Sean [Madeleine's younger brother] when we were crying last night?'

"Now, Kate and Gerry were puzzled by that because they'd been checking her every half an hour and they had seen no evidence and heard no evidence that she was crying.

"Nor was she disturbed when she was checked each time.

"Equally, one of the friends, Rachael Oldfield, was in the apartment next door in a bedroom adjacent to the wall where Madeleine was in her bedroom and she heard no crying at all all night."

On the last Google cached date 3rd April 2008 the McCanns fund had

  1. O link da BBC(actualizado mais tarde do que o da ) e da Sky.

    Sempre actualizadissimo,o seu Blog.

  2. Mr. Mrs. McCann have confirmed that the comments, referring to when Madeleine asked of her mummy, why she and her brother and sister were left to cry and they (her parents) did not come back?

    In Mrs. McCann's police statement:

"Gerry and I spoke for a couple of minutes and agreed to keep a closer watch over the children."

    The report (paper) continues :

But hours later the McCann's left the three children alone in their unlocked holiday apartment to have dinner with friends.

Clarence, Mr. Mrs. McCann are angry, disappointed about this leak to the papers, and would like an internal inquiry about how this piece of information was leaked on "the very day that Kate and Gerry are doing a high profile visit in Brussels."

    Clarence spin on this one:

"The very fact that the comment from Madeleine (to her mother) is in the public domain is entirely because they themselves told the police about it at the time."

    Well how else Clarence?

Predictably quotes the obvious once more.

So very glad Clarence is keeping 'up to speed' on matters.

Clarence states that Mr. Mrs McCann are open and honest.

If they are so open and honest, and what is printed has been confirmed as the truth by Mr. Mrs. McCann -
    where is the problem?

OOps it's the leak. Just like when things are leaked in their favour, that kind of leak?

Once more there is no mention of Madeleine.

Only, that the day Mr. Mrs. McCann had planned in Brussels has been upset/ruined. Shame eh?

As ever, it is about Mr. Mrs. McCann.

Isn't it comforting to know that Mr. Mrs. McCann spoke for a couple of minutes about those irksome children - then came up with the same plan as they had the previous evening, and the one before, and the one before that...
they still went out and left them!!!

It makes you feel physically sick.

This is not naeivity, a mistake - this is two people who continually and knowingly neglected their children.

They even discussed the fact that their children were upset and still went out!!!

Knowing their children had been put through such anguish - they still went out.

    How sickeningly cruel.

All of you who say this was a mistake - explain why it was a mistake and what was okay about this, knowing what you now know?

Their daughter is begging not to be left alone - that is what this 3 year old was saying (the other two babies, unfortunately were too young to voice their thoughts)

    - 'mummy we were frightened and you didn't come, please don't leave us again.'

Now let's turn to the 'spin' of the 'friend' - I'm not sure if Clarence is considered a friend, so it may be him saying this also. I take it he is their friend, so it is possible. They didn't give the friend's name.

A friend, it is reported, suggested - and this one will kill you folks -

'That Madeleine could have been crying on the night of the 2nd May because she had been disturbed by someone, someone that she didn't know. This was probably felt, as important, to Mr. Mrs. McCann and that is why they told police of Madeleine crying.'

A couple of big problems here though -

Madeleine didn't tell her mummy that she had seen/heard/been disturbed by someone she didn't know, or of any horrible noises.

    So it's not very likely.

Had she been, wouldn't Mr. Mrs. McCann have told the police this also?

In fact, if your daughter had been disturbed by someone she didn't know - wouldn't the first thing you did when she told you this, be, to go straight to the police and lodge a report re an intruder?

Would you leave your children again after she told you this?

Wouldn't your children be kept close at all times after this?

That's one bit of spinning to try to cover up this time.

Do they really think the public are so gullible?

I wonder how little Madeleine felt on the night of the 3rd, knowing mummy and daddy were getting ready to leave her again.

I suspect the thought of bedtime must truly have been a nightmare for this child.

I think it is looking very much like, the little one wandered out looking for them.

    Her fate thereafter?

I can also see why, the Portuguese Police, would think at the very least, that these parents were most odd.

Parents who make a statement, saying their children were alone and crying and yet go out and do same thing again.

Clarence wants an internal inquiry as to this leak.

Perhaps an inquiry into the neglect of these children would be more appropriate.

    Children must be protected absolutely.

Protection starts in the home with the parents.

It most certainly does not begin with an amber alert system!

  3. why is it shannon mathews mother has been charged with child neglect, and rightly so, when she left her child with an adult? The mccans left their babies with no one and yet still no charges.! both families are basically the same, dispicable but that right i forgot kate and gerry have some money......
