Gerry McCann Blog Updated

From Day 528: 12/10/2008

Day 528: First of all I want to apologise for not updating this blog for so long. I would like to assure everyone that this gap is not because there is little going on in the search for Madeleine. On the contrary, Kate and I have been incredibly busy over the last couple of months since the PJ files were made public. We and our family have always vowed to leave no stone unturned in the search for our daughter and knowing exactly what has been done and, more importantly, what has not been done is vital in planning our future strategy.

Getting the files translated accurately is a time consuming and expensive process but essential to our search. There is a huge amount of information contained within the files which we have not been party to until now and this needs to be assessed carefully. This is even more important as the Portuguese investigation is officially closed.

In some ways, although this task is monumental, it has been good for us doing being something active and positive which we believe may help find Madeleine. We are also using this period to get advice to maximise our effectiveness and efficiency in our overall strategy going forward. Keeping Madeleine’s image in the public eye will continue to be important and the distribution of posters is central to that aim.

Many people have also asked us what is happening with the Amber alert after the successful adoption of the written declaration by the European Parliament. It has been relatively quiet due to the summer recess but hopefully the momentum gained, added to the desire of the European Commission to for an Amber Alert system, will affect change in the near future.

Finally we would like to thank everyone for their continued, support, prayers and letters. I promise to do another update in the near future. We will be looking at how the website functions, as the main portal of the find Madeleine campaign, and perhaps future updates will be via another route rather than my blog. Why don’t you let us know what you think by e-mail messages of support?

*Via Pamalam's Gerry McCann's Blog Archives: Gerald McCann's blog was updated at approximately 23.45H GMT last night, Sunday.

Considerations by Our Guest Analyst JJP

From this blog entry I gather:

1. The parents have paid for an expensive translation of the DVD, the cost no doubt having been borne by the people who donated to the fund. This is variously seen (within the same sentence) as them doing something active or it being something active.

2. They have sought advice to maximise their effectiveness and efficiency in their overall strategy going forward. (This advice seems to have suggested that the distribution of posters might be undertaken.)

3. There has been a summer recess so the Amber Alert has been on a back burner - no action there then - not that it assists in the search for Madeleine anyway.

4. It would seem there has been some consideration also of the website and how it functions. The result of this is that Gerry's next update may come from some other source.

So in the last few weeks:
- publicity such as posters - none
- assisting the police in the UK or Portugal - none
- personal appeals/interviews - none
- attempts to put out a clear and logical timeline of the night of the disappearance - none
- demands to the Portuguese Authorities that the case be re-opened - none

  3. Boring - yes, that must be the most appropriate word for this blog entry. Thank you, Birgitta. Spot on.

Where is the URGENCY to find a lost child, that her parents presume in the hands of a paedophile network?!

Why does this whole thing sound like a BUSINESS VENTURE - complete with quarterly reports and investment plans?

Why is it that it always comes down to MONEY: justifying the expenses, asking for further donations?

Go on, send your messages of support, complete with suggestions of how one looks for one's missing child without eaving one's armchair. Because they seem to have run out of ideas, you see, they now need your input as well as your MONEY.

  7. How dare he keep sayinga bout leaving no stone unturned, I can name a couple of stones left unturned, for a kick off, the reconstruction was a stone they deemed not worthy of turning over to spite it being a bone fide part of the investigation, another is (well fourty), are the unanswered questions Kate decided not to answer.
The dirty despicable bastards have only ever play acted at looking for her, for appearances.
remember kate saying PDL was where she felt closest to Madeleine...not so keen to get back there to feel this bloody closeness again.
They make me sick, those bloody blogs were one of the first things that made me think they were socopathic in their behavviour. All they have ever and still to this day care about is themselves.

  11. Can we translate part of his blog as saying something like "We are reading the translation of the files and dammit, we can't find leads to follow up on because contrary to the song we've been singing all this time the files show the police DID chase down all these false leads and bogus sightings, and so far we haven't found anything in that regard that allows us to go to the press in a lather of outrage, saying "The PJ are like the keystone cops, we have to do the investigation ourselves" because there's a chance that some member of the press who has been reading the file or just those nasty people at 3As will point out that we're not actually entirely honest. Awkward. It sure doesn't make us want to take questions from the press so we are cowering in the house in Rothley.

"And all this is expensive. I'm not really working full time--the people at the hospital are even more unfriendly than they were before we went to Portugal, the peons--and Kate isn't working at all. She's saving money by doing her own nails, but it's not enough. Brian Kennedy is paying for the "search," so he's paying for the translation, but he's developed a really unpleasant tendency to have his accountants question how his money is being spent and firing consultants who overcharge or charge for services that aren't necessary or aren't things that the consultants know how to do. Dammit dammit dammit. This means that he's not bankrolling our expensive lifestyle, or that he might stop doing that eventually, since Kate isn't really doing much on the computer except reading 3As (I've told her not to do that, I have limited access to free samples of tranquillizers) and playing solitaire. Please, please send money--the truth is, Brian sympathizes with his whole heart, but he wants to see RESULTS and we aren't really doing anything at all productive except reading the files and feeling chills run up and down our spines, so asking him to pay the mortgage and fund other crucial things (expensive trainers, highlights, good wine) is just dicey. Buy some more posters. Okay, it's ages since I've seen a poster up anywhere other than my fridge, and the twins somehow got oatmeal on that, but surely some of our long-time supporters want to go around trying to get shopkeepers to put up posters? Some of them are pensioners and have nothing better to do. SEND MONEY. Please. I've done my best to blind you with verbiage in order to persuade you that we're doing something. I'm very smart and a doctor so you'll look up to me and send money. Right?"

  12. Gerry,

From a gentleman to whatever would qualify somebody like you: FUCK YOU!

And that is being as polite as I could be.

By the way, and that is just a picky detail, have you contracted a German-French translator? Only that would justify the time (2,5 months) taken to translate the Portuguese into English of the VERY LITTLE work (the claim of teh british tabloids and always implied by you) done by the blundering PJ.

I thought they had directed all their effort in framing you, the saintly McCann's. That would mean, me thinks, very little written detail. Barely, if not just, the essentials.

Oh... or are you translating, from the Spanish, all the volumes of information colated by Metodo 3? Or from the American-english all that from your CIA/FBI ex-employees buddies? Now that WOULD justify the time and the silence. And by their standards of efficiency, you should still have about more of 2,5 years of translating. Minimum.

Couldn't resist your single moment of truthfullness in this post: "Kate and I have been incredibly busy over the last couple of months since the PJ files were made public".

If I were you, I would have been too.

  13. Gerry, and Kate, if you are trying to follow the saying 'the medical profession is the only profession that buries its mistakes', you may fail. You may be faced with too big a mistake to bury.

  14. "Kate and I have been incredibly busy over the last couple of months since the PJ files were made public."

Well, it was about time you did something. Anything.

Given the fact that you couldn't be bothered before, could you?

Except for the photo shoots and the world touring, that is.

What is it that you are incredibly busy with, Gerry?

  15. The McCanns & Co are really stuck with the PJ files. The files contain too many truths that spoil the McCann game. What a pitty!

What parents are these who won't leave any stone unturned in the search for their daughter but have not asked for the investigation to be reopened. Do they really want to find Madeleine or do they know only too well where her body is. What a farse!

  16. Well, if Spudgun's new post on the 3 arguidos is anything to go by, then we are now to believe that there are 40,000 more pages that have been withheld from the public.

Presumably it is these pages that Gerry refers to in his blog. ;)

I just hope those pages somehow find their way into Duarte's or Paulo's hands ;)

  18. THE BLOG

I would like to assure everyone that this gap is not because there is little going on in the search for Madeleine. On the contrary, Kate and I have been incredibly busy over the last couple of months since the PJ files were made public.

INCREDIBLY BUSY! HOW MANY TIMES HAS THAT BEEN SAID SINCE 03/05/07? ALL THAT PUBLIC MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN AND STILL NOTHING POSITIVE. Mmm!

We and our family have always vowed to leave no stone unturned in the search for our daughter and knowing exactly what has been done and, more importantly, what has not been done is vital in planning our future strategy.

    STRATEGY Mmmm!

Getting the files translated accurately is a time consuming and expensive process but essential to our search. There is a huge amount of information contained within the files which we have not been party to until now and this needs to be assessed carefully. This is even more important as the Portuguese investigation is officially closed.

ACCURATELY OR YOUR TRANSLATED McPOOPAGANDA! DON'T YOU MEAN SHELVED OR ARCHIVED?

In some ways, although this task is monumental, it has been good for us doing being something active and positive which we believe may help find Madeleine.

PHYSICALLY LOOKING FOR THE CHILD YOU CLAIM WAS TAKEN WOULD HAVE BEEN ACTIVE AND POSITIVE. NOT LEAVING THEM UNSUPERVISED WOULD HAVE BEEN POSITIVE PARENTING.

We are also using this period to get advice to maximise our effectiveness and efficiency in our overall strategy going forward. Keeping Madeleine’s image in the public eye will continue to be important and the distribution of posters is central to that aim.

HAS ANYONE SEEN THESE POSTERS IN EUROPE? OR ELSWHERE IN THE WORLD?

Many people have also asked us what is happening with the Amber alert after the successful adoption of the written declaration by the European Parliament. It has been relatively quiet due to the summer recess but hopefully the momentum gained, added to the desire of the European Commission to for an Amber Alert system, will affect change in the near future.

NOT INTERESTED JUST ANOTHER BANDWAGON YOU JUMPED ON. Zzzzz.

Finally we would like to thank everyone for their continued, support, prayers and letters. I promise to do another update in the near future.

    OH CAN'T WAIT!

We will be looking at how the website functions, as the main portal of the find Madeleine campaign, and perhaps future updates will be via another route rather than my blog.

WELL IF IT IS MAYBE THE SPELLING AND GRAMMAR WILL AT LEAST BE CHECKED. JUST HAVE A RE-READ OF YOUR LATEST INSTALMENT AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT I MEAN. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE INTELLIGENT. PUTTING SOMETHING LIKE THIS OUT IN THE PUBLIC ARENA IS AN EMBARRASSMENT.

Why don’t you let us know what you think by e-mail messages of support?

HAVING TO ASK FOR E-MAIL MESSAGES OF SUPPORT NOW ARE YOU. THOUGHT YOU HAD CONTINUED SUPPORT OR IS THAT JUST ANOTHER McCONTRADICTION AND McINCONSISTENCY?

'Finally we would like to thank everyone for their continued, support, prayers and letters.'
