Maddie: Documentary for TV

Shooting starts on the 20th

The book ‘Maddie the Truth of the Lie’ is the starting point for a documentary that starts being filmed in the Algarve on the next 20th. Gonçalo Amaral, the former coordinator of the Judiciary Police, author of the book it’s not the only ‘character’ who will appear on this TV production.

The documentary is going to be produced by Manuel da Fonseca, from Valentim de Carvalho [Production Company], most of the shooting will be done on Portimão and in Praia da Luz, the place from where Madeleine McCann disappeared on the 3rd May 2007. “First we will work then we’ll make statements. The formal announcement will be done at another occasion”, said to CM Manuel da Fonseca, the producer of films like ‘Amália’ e ‘A Vida Privada de Salazar’ [The Private Life of Salazar].

Gonçalo Amaral coordinated the first five months of the investigation, until he was removed from one of the most publicized cases in the media ever. The inquest was archived last summer, time when the former coordinator published his book, a work that is a pioneer into the meanders of the police investigation, which has sold in Portugal around 200 thousand copies. Since September, the book,  is available in Spain and it will be published on Denmark, Sweden and Norway. “Any one likes to see it work appreciated” , said Gonçalo Amaral concerning the documentary.

  2. Good we are going to have a new Maddie documentary and that Gonçalo Amaral will feature in it. I understand that he is hopeful justice can still be found for Maddie. I hope he is right. All I can see is, on the one hand, no new Police developments, on the other, the British media continues to pump out the occasional new 'sighting' and PJ bashing, that is, the two main threads in the cover-up mechanism. They are more spaced out but keep the fictional story going.

  3. This Portuguese TV documentary on the Madeleine McCann case is most welcome if it is going to help make the TRUTH known to the general public. Joana Morais, probably you will be kindly translating its contents for the English-speaking readers who cannot get the right information in the British press. I don't know what we would do without people like you!
